That's a good idea. Just wondering the best way to do that now that it is already installed?

Try cutting a pair of U-shaped saddles to fit between the port tube and the cabinet walls. Visualize how you would try to wrestle the sub around. You grab one end by the bottom and your buddy grabs the port tube... Any brace on the interior end is better than nothing.

Got to love the big JBL subs. I run a 2245 in B460 cabinet myself.

It aint pretty, or apologetic. Then again, it doesn't have to be...

Just hooked it up in the theater but the kids are sleeping now. I'll give it a run tomorrow and let you know how she plays.

Looks about as pretty as a stock 4645C. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it.

Listening to this beast right now. The difference is amazing between my Martycubes with the Dayton 460HO's and this thing. The 'live' sound that it creates is stunning! Drum beats are great! Kicks hard.

The only thing that lets it down is my Q Acoustics 2050i speakers. Hi-fi speakers have a very different sound to PA gear for sure. Too smooth.

But that will be fixed soon with my 3677 sound stage on order. Have to wait ages though! The local supplier won't be getting them in until mid-June! Apparently JBL only build to order??

I reckon some slightly diluted Duratex would really set that thing off.

I'm not too worried about the finish. It's going to end up behind my screen wall anyway. That circle above the port is where I sat the driver when I was wiring it up. I've rubbed it off now.

Any idea where to get Duratex in Aus just in case?

On the test bench... so to speak... And a sneak peak at my new theater setup...

That's a 110" screen, and this guy will be going behind the screen wall as a speaker stand for the center 3677 once it comes. My Martycubes are in the middle behind the screen at the moment, and I have two Infinity 1260W's in a 25Hz ported box behind the MLP.

Planning to crossover the JBL to the Martycubes at 30Hz with a MiniDSP to cover the ULF. That's the plan anyway...

$119 from Canonsound, I order it from PE, by the time it lands its $130AUD. Canonsound had no stock and it was going to be a while last time I wanted some.

Thanks guys. Yeah that's not really worth it to me if I'm going to put it behind the screen wall anyway.

Just listened to a live drum solo. Oh...my...goodness!

The cubes provide a real depth to the drum kicks, but can kind of make it all sound a little too 'woofy' & fat. The 4645C clone just gives a solid kick with no frills. They are different subs for sure.

My twin 4645B's make listening to music a whole lot better. Eventually I will add to DIY boxes with the killer 2269 sub driver (looking at a 12 cuft ft, 20 Hz tuned monster).

The 4645'speakers are B6 aligned from what I've read, meaning you can add 6 dB PEQ at 25 Hz (Q = 2). Set HPF at 20 Hz to ensure don't overdrive the 2242. I added only 3 dB of PEQ to mine.

looks great! in the a-b comparo, equalizing both systems is important otherwise the rising response of the 2242 may be most of what you are hearing...or may not ;-).

Yeah really good mate. I've got it behind the screen wall now. Only thing with this is that the current positioning creates a bit of a 'hole' at my MLP. I've done some REW work and played with everything to get it as good as it is going to get with that sub position. So I'm currently running the 4645C clone, 2x Martycubes with HO's + 2x Infinity 1260W's ported at 25Hz behind the MLP. I'm pretty happy with it at the moment.

Meanwhile my other JBL's are still on their way. 3x3677's and 4x8320's. I was told they would be here early-mid June. So hopefully they show up soon. Sick of waiting!

Just an update: Got in touch with the company about when I might see some speakers... another month. Turns out JBL are finalising the production run on the 8320's and want to ship the order all in one lot, and shipping is via a sea, not air. Apparently the airlines don't like flying speakers around because the magnets could mess up the guidance systems. (Really). Ugh! Sick of waiting!

The company I'm dealing with is pretty good. It's out of their hands and they are at the mercy of JBL. The rep is also giving me a 5% refund because of the wait. Better than nothing but it won't hurry it up.

a black cloth on the wall behind the screen may reduce light splash and improve your contrast ratio a bit.

You need bigger, badder speakers......

Looks really awesome, powerful sound with 10 watts of power (but can take hundreds).

Ok I've been doing some listening tests and some running in.

There seems to be a problem with the tweeters in two of the 3677's. One is fine - nice and clear. But the other two are producing some distortion unfortunately. Tried swapping the lead from the good speaker to the bad two but they were both the same so it's not the amp or leads. I was going to open them up to check the wiring but didn't want to void the warranty or something.

Trying to get in touch with the dealer to discuss further. I don't want to wait another 3 months for two more to come!!!

What did Jands say? They should have replacements on hand I would think.

That sounds like a built-in "reason" for an upgrade of the compression drivers. The aquaplas coated 2453H-SL is a nice affordable substitute.. If you can get warranty to cover most of the cost it's even a better deal.

So the dealer has been in contact with Jands and they said I have to take all 3 speakers to the nearest 'repairer'. They gave me two businesses to choose from. I can't open them up otherwise I will 'void' the warranty. All 3 so he has a reference for what the bad two are supposed to sound like...

Jands SHOULD have replacements but when I ordered these ones originally they said they'd have to place an order with JBL! Stuff stinks here in Aus sometimes!

That and the fact that they were shipped faulty in the first place. I'm surprised at what appears to be a lack of QC on JBLs part.

The 3677's are made in Mexico. Not sure what the QC has been like for others?

The 8320's seem to be fine though... actually they sound better than I was expecting! And they're made in China!
