The Aggressive 1299 Vented Build

This build is for 1299 L/C/R with my center being horizontal. Right now that work best for me after hearing many say that it should be vertical...Well my living condition(Renting) right now not allowing that so it's not going to happen right now or until i buy a home which I'm year away from that.

I'm very excited about this build since i stepped in DIY world almost a year ago. My time & skills are limited & i wanted this project done right so i hired a well known AVS member to do this project for me. I will update this build as the project progress with pics and info. If you have a questions i will try my best to answer it, I'm fairly new to DIY.

There are 3 baffles stacked together with and flipped over, so it's kind of hard to see the waveguide cut out. But it's there.

Looks good,

What tuning and size of the cabinet do you plan on using for the build? Figure if the 1299 could make it to 30Hz and survive a few hundred watts with a 25Hz high pass filter, it could be a good choice for music running full range and HT use.

Hope the build works out for you and looking forward to your thoughts on the latest DIY SG offerings. Good luck!

Haha actually, yeah lol. Maybe not 1299, but something. 1899 for surrounds would be fun! Although thst would be some expensive surrounds I have only just recently been considering replacing my klipsch surrounds. I need some good seat time with 1899 before I get into that. 1299 would be pimp though, perhaps @DrDyna can build em for me too because these look great!

If you had the space for em, that would be pretty epic. In my room that would be way too close for a 1299.

Have you considered the volt 10lx for surround? they're really good, I just built a pair of those for the same person who got 1299, and those are just a glue+tape deal with the flat pack.

I don't know what I would do with myself if I had seven 1899's, rofl. Only two things against that insanity.....$4k in surrounds and the simple thought of having to build 4 more

i have looked at the volt before, I'm sure my mind would force me int something more though

They're quite capable for their size, a lot of guys run them with mains like 4722s and stuff.

Edit: I had the volt 10s from this kit hooked up as a stereo pair for a day, and they're pretty damn good, and they'll take quite a thumping for a 10" driver before starting to sound gross.

Not saying they are a slouch by any means. Surrounds don't need much, it's just my head lol.

Hah, yeah, if I had the space where I could get 10-12 feet on either side of me, like a 30 foot wide room, I would love to have all 11 speakers matching exactly. It's probably the best way to do it, just difficult at the room sizes that are average for a home.

If you've got a 30x50 room, then hell yeah. Wouldn't that be something, a 20 foot ceiling with 1299 as atmos speakers flown from the ceiling with chains!
