Well getting close to being able to assemble. Need to finish the handle cutouts on the hatches, cut the angles on the edges that need them, and get all my threaded inserts installed.

SO this is a pair of cabinets yes?

And did you post a link for the handles or no?

Was looking at a few different handles. I do prefer the metal ones myself. Will you just be using Duratex for a finish or corner protectors and something else?

Parts for three cabinets. These are the handles: http://www.parts-express.com/parts-e...andle--262-821

Ricci is getting his duratex'ed. Not sure how I will finish mine.

Haha. Awesome. I have matching bubinga snare and bass drum (stave shells). Never got around to the toms.

Yes, in this case I was joking. That'd be a lot of veneer.

You could always veneer the front square panel and Duratex the rest in a smooth finish. I will be doing all Duratex but had thought about veneering just the front panel.

Well here is exactly what you need to assemble three SKHorns:

Angles and more angles:

If I can sneak in an hour tomorrow will be done with all the parts. Going to pre-paint a few hard to reach ones then start putting them together.

The end is in sight. All parts cut (except the extra hatches for the speaker power / ipal amp but will do that later).

Very last piece:

Some quick sanding / pilot holes to make assembly easier and going to paint a few of the parts before I assemble on the to-do list.

Then time to pop them together!

Hatches:

Hatch holes line up perfectly with the threaded inserts. Something I've had minor issues with in the past but made a new plan on these:

Pre-painted some of the insets for the pair that will be duratex'ed with spray paint. Don't want a paint build up otherwise the hatches / handles / speakons won't fit.

updated pics please. Have you listened to yours more? You still think it is 1.5 x as good as the Othorn?

Built some hatches this morning and duratex'ed 4 of the 6.

From my understanding it's closer to two Othorns in an single enclosure than 1.5x (it's 1.5x the size of a single Othorn), but need to wait for Ricci to fully measure it (probably will be a few months) to get real numbers.

Sounds awesome in my room!

Very, very nice! I can appreciate the improvement in ease of assembly aligning the threaded inserts w/the hatch holes. It's little things like that, that actually aren't so little when things don't line up! Bravo!

Yea try to keep making things better. Ended up using the CNC to do all of the holes / drilling.

Well boys / girls, this was my evening:

Triple check the driver threaded inserts line up:

They do!...

Three fit in an SUV!!!:

Assembly time:

One:

Skip forward a bit:

Two:

And three!:

Painting the insides next then going to pop the front panels on -> flush trim -> round-over -> sand -> paint.

Wow 8 IPALs. I am only using a tiny old 21SW152 and smaller amp.

Kutlow as I have been told anything with about 1000watts(total) will be fine in this cabinet. A lot of different drivers can be used. 18 and 21's. IPALS will take a lot of power to get the max out of them at 30hz tune. Your amp will be fine. I will only be using about 4000watts total to my cabinet when finished. When at the lower 25hz tune Ricci said that I should be perfect for my setup with 4000watts. Now when at the higher tune I wont be able to push the 21's hard enough to hit Xmax I believe. BUT if I wanted louder I would just build another cabinet. Maximum SPL out of this cabinet is probably a pair of 21IPAL's and a SP12000 amp per cabinet.

Hope that helps.

@dsl1 what kind of dust collection do you have? Don't have the budget right now but the hepa dust vac from oneida looks pretty cool. Just curious since your shop looks clean
