Thanks, putting the speakers in the wall makes everything look so clean. The room looks bigger as well. Giant 17 cubic foot subs are taking up space in the laundry room now. The subs will be moveable into my room to change, work on, ect. The speakers just need 4 screws to come out and work on. Once the room is painted I am going to build the riser. I did not know I could even do this stuff LOL. I figure if I can make a speaker I can do this. I had someone sand the joint compound though, as I avoided the dust. I never ended up adding the hanging ceiling but the only thing missing is the channels. I have safe and sound(better than any insulation I have used for sound) and false joists off the floor joists. I used to have insulation, sound board, dry wall, and then sound board and you can still hear some movies playing although muffled, or the people talking, I should say yelling. Now, even without the front wall finished on the laundry room side to seal it, you can't hear me working down there from upstairs. The space between the drywall and safe and sound is key. I don't think the subs will be stopped but they are decoupled from the floor joist now.

21x15x6.5. Block concrete with earth, it is a basement. Two walls have some room before the concrete block.

That low ceiling is certainly helping you out, I'd tend to think that's a big player in your response.

Yes, it also adds another boundary for gain. It is a typical 7 foot high basement to the floor joist but with all the piping down there with some lower than the floor joist we had to add a false joist just a tad lower than the lowest pipe. One you sit the ceiling does not bother anybody, I am almost 6'3". I have to duck when walking to the back row on a riser. I almost thought of digging deeper but who knows what that would of lead to, probably a swimming hole or something.

I forgot, I did EQ that response, I brought down a peak I usually get down low. My room always creates a rising response around 10hz with more linear drivers.

Progress and wired! I am still awaiting for my Peavy 7500 to get repaired so they let me boworrow a NX3000 just to have some bass.

It is fun building this stuff. I am actually hanging my screen like a picture frame, it looks awesome this way.

Wow man, just wow!

I know the flood would have sucked balls, but seeing how awesome the room is looking now, it must almost feel like a blessing in disguise! having all the speakers mounted in-wall makes it look so clean! The fact that you're doing so much of this yourself just makes it even better. If I ever make it over to the US, I would love to drop by for a demo!!!

And did I read correctly earlier - you get 20dB gain at 20Hz?? ....sweet baby Jesus!

Thanks! I will get more picks but it is coming out nice. The Biggest thing everybody says is it looks so much bigger but it is the same just all speakers in the wall and removing the baffle wall added 3 feet. I still have to put panels on the walls but I am keeping everything black, I like everything black as the room disappears with the lights out.

I get 20 dB at 10hz. 5-7 dB at 20. That was the old room but there is no reason to think it won’t happen again.

I bought a commercial carpet. I wanted to put full padding but I still don’t trust the basement. I am waiting for the carpet guy to seam it. I had to rebuild the other side of the walls as well extending them for the 12 inch drivers in the wall.

Btw so far just lying down the carpet took lots of echo away so I doubt I will need so much treatment. The new tweeters sound very powerful and dynamic. I really love these 12s too. Every time I hear them I can’t believe the detail they put out. I can see me building MTTM with two 12s and the two tweets. Of course I will measure everything first.

The tweeters are very good. They are horn loaded(small horn) so they have the big dynamic sound which I did not expect. The vocals are in your face and super clear. Even without any treatments on the walls yet my wife even said it was smooth and not harsh playing at -5MV. I won't take it to 0 yet because I am waiting for my real bass amp to get in. All that bracing and pillow stuffing in the subs really make them solid sounding, but I also think a little harder to drive. My friend and I put all the carpet down tonight and almost done with it, next will be panels and speaker grills for the in walls. If I ever wanted to make good looking subs I would use cabinet joinery and probably MDF next time. I am starting to have too much fun putting things together and seeing how them come out then sit and watch something.

Here is more progress.

My friend and I never put in a carpet before, in the words of lego batman, First try!

We had to take apart that column as it was too thick for the carpet. We will put it back together when I get back into town, my new fabric for them and the panels will be waiting for me. I went with ATS Acoustics black micro suede.

The bass is really good. I am still waiting for the amp to get back to me. I am only powering these with a single NX3000 and it shakes the room. I am still adding speaker grills to all the visible in wall and in ceiling speakers. I can't get my laptop to use the center, sub, and surrounds in REW, only channel 1 and 2 are working. I went into the sound card setting and when I hit the SL, SR, RB, and LB speaker it plays them through the front. I really want a center channel measurement but I Can't get tones out of it.

That was a left front sweep at -10dBfs so it should be 95dB. It seems I have a dip at crossover which I will work on the delay or distance setting to get right. This was the first time I used my measuring gear in over 6 months, a quick sweep. I even forgot to set the increments in 5 dB. Rookie mistake! The 80-900hz region was 95 dB as well. The 1khz-3khz was around 90dB no doubt from the baffle. The problem was it dropped to 80 dB from 3Khz-20khz but smooth. The specs do show it drop 5 dB but in room was 10 dB.

So I am going to reverse the polarity on the front right speaker and see if it helps. I am also getting a brand new IPR2-7500 next week. I will also start on the grills.

It looks like your left side surround is a single tweeter and your right side is dual tweeter.

Yes, same tweeters but a 12 inch vs 10 inch woofer. I wanted both front sides to be 12s with dual tweets but the 12 was too deep behind the door and no room to make a deeper wall, so I used the 10 there. They are the opposities on the back sides, 10 on left and 12 on right. I used what I had. The surrounds sound great, I need to fix this front tweeter problem but my soundcard is not letting play surround, just stereo. My crossover is at 1600 hz but the drop is at 3khz, I am down 10 dB from 3khz-20khz from the rest of the range, could it be a polarity issue with the tweets or the tweets are just not spec'd accurately. Both fronts are the same. I can't measure the center or other speakers unless I swap the amp connections around.

So I measured some speakers and 5 crossovers are bad, not a polarity issue. I will save these for a compression driver since they have a 7 dB attentuation above the crossover. I will fix them tonight, at least the front 3. So far my best measured speaker are my 2 dual rings with my 12. I can't get my soundcard to play any other channels than my front two so it is a pain to measure them. If the Morel does not measure as well as the dual rings I might put them in the front and move the morels to the sides and back. Even with the 7 dB attenuation they sound very nice and dynamic. My subs are awesome, when I level match them to the speakers they are flat, really flat. All that bracing and stuffing paid off. They have zero noise, speaking of which, I now have zero noise from all speakers even using rca cables. My noise floor is -60 from the MLP.
