There was a cut-sheet sent to me, lol. My request before buying wood for this experiment.
John is just nervous that either A. I can’t read, or B. He failed at math.

Not saying I never make mistakes, but I would hope that I’d notice if the port board was longer than the rails.

12" JBL speaker $29 on black friday at Bestbuy

Complete Devastation:

Made this build way harder on myself by using no external pocket screws. I think visible pocket screw holes look bad, plus I gotta keep it interesting right?

Will hit it with flush trim and roundover after work tomorrow, then await drivers.

Yep. NX3000D. I'll follow his thread and check back in as suggested. I haven't ordered the amp yet, I have an NX6000D sitting here but it's probably not worth messing with. It's going in my livingroom shortly.

Yeah, turned out pretty nice really. All panels fit nice and tight, no gaps or crooked sections.
I learned arauco is way harder to get square than mdf, since the panels are all slightly warped. Dust is way nicer though. My next build is a BMD Alpha using Baltic Birch, hopefully that will be best of both worlds.

Regular ply is the lightest but most inconsistency between boards. MDF is very consistent but messy and heavy. Baltic Birch is heavy but consistent and strong, oh and most expensive. My 2 cents

I found 60”x60” 18mm BBP for $35 a sheet locally. The same place has 4x8’s, but they’re $75+.
Luckily, Alpha works perfectly on 60” sheets.

At least 5x5’s actually fit in your truck. I had to get a bit creative with my dakota. Have tonneau rails it couldn’t sit on, so used some cribbing.

One thing that can offset the extra cost of Baltic Birch is that it can take a stain nicely. Stains are cheaper than Dutatex and way cheaper than veneer which you still have to stain and finish. So remember to include that as part of your total when comparing options.

You just have to hide the edges a bit and not having them on the front face. I've been adding the colored trim to mine partially to hide the edges and partially for design looks. This really only matters too if the speakers are visible. If they're going behind an AT screen then it doesn't really matter.

If I ever have to move these again, I'm definitely not laying them flat. Fitting in the bed is one thing, getting them out with 0.5" on either side is another

Cleaned up and ready for drivers:

Ignore the big gouge in the port. Uhh... I’m pretty sure the ply came like that. I would never get in a hurry and go around the wrong corner with the flush trim. That would just be stupid.

Still have to get the minidsp, preamp, and amps set up. And install the terminal cup and hatch gasket.
No rest for the wicked.

You *can* set up a limiter in the NU6000 that will limit the amoutn of output (watts). I haven't done it though.

I think the answer is that "you're fine". I've got 4x JBL 12" on each channel of a NU6000. My four JBLs would take 1000W (250x4) while the NU6000 will output more than that on each channel. The answer is, just don't turn it up loud enough to fry the drivers.

The knob(s) on the front of the NU6000 are input limiters. You can turn them counterclockwise to limit the input signal coming into the amp and therefore reduce the output.

You'll need to calibrate the output of your subs; either with your AVR's internal software or doing it manually. Chances are, your sub output will match the level of your main speakers and never even get close to a damaging level of power.

I have an xls 2502 bridged (2400 watts, ~4k burst) connected to my 4 small sealed JBL's in the computer room. No limiter. They have survived my listening and even one instance of Steve the cat jacking with my sub amp gains (had gains dialed down to mask computer noise) where the Crown was all of a sudden ~15dB hotter than my already aggressive room curve. You'll be fine. Unless you aren't.

What's the significance of 9 drivers? I would think 8 or 16.
