I picture a massive never ending warehouse, like in Indiana Jones, stacked high with JBL 12's as far as the eye can see.

There must be!

BB tried to limit the orders to 5 per customer, obviously who ever came up with that number knows jack about subwoofers.

so Plan B: 8 up front, on my nu6000dsp and maybe taking my sws15d2 out of my horn and running it in a sealed box, nearfield, on my spare nu1000 for some added feel.

Yea I'll be mixing cs1214s with cx1200s lol, I saved 11$ over the cs1214 @ wlmart. Sad when online shopping is so easy/competitive you save 11$

I will start from scratch maybe tomorrow, following this : https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-d...amp-gains.html .
Couldn't hear quite nothing, base input signal high, nevertheless if I go up from a hour 14 volume setting I get clipping (only first low light will eventually come on), and after a while Inuke will go in protect mode, coming again on after 20/30 seconds. I had also provided some limit and low and high pass filters.
Will have to set Audissey previous setting to zero and stat from there. I could also integrate the little subwoofer I have. It provides line outputs passthrough, also.
Problem is I am biased in negative after finding accessories in a repacked envelope.

I love these drivers. With the help of @LTD02 , I built a ~3.5 cft internal box with one 4" precision port tuned to about 20 hz. I have it down-firing port and driver and the sound signature reminds me of my old SVS PB12 NSD but with added tactile response in down-firing. I think this set up near-field on a suspended floor would be decent. You could easily build two/four of these and power them with an inuke 3000 for decent output to 20 hz for not much investment. Now I want to build another for my computer set up

Here is a close mic measurement (room effected) to get a rough idea of the response.

Ive always been a ported guy, then I learned about horns and built one and was like holy crap these things rock. That being said, even with these 4 sealed im learning theres something to be said for sealed. A wall of 16 for the cost wouldnt be something id laugh at, atleast not in my room. The advantages that multiple subs have for even response at different listening positions is pretty awesome.

My system is music only.

They're fantastic within their limitations, which mostly go away when you add enough of them in. Will need eq for the bottom end. Very clean and punchy, they don't sound like a $30 driver when used in an array.

They've made me re-think my whole perspective on high dollar/high performance drivers, assuming you have the space for enough of these.

Are the Best Buy and Wal Mart variants exactly the same, except for the dust cap? The reason I ask is the surround on the Wal Mart version looks like rubber. I was under the impression that the Best Buy ones use a foam surround. Any input is greatly appreciated! I'm contemplating a 4 stack of these in the garage, and may even do an IB sub in the garage. Yummy!

Also it seems they are identical, they just switched the name/aesthetics.

Idk about the surround but it seems performance is what’s identical.

Haha me too. I do appreciate it though since I figured it'd be Black Friday till they ran the sale again.

Well 24 now but idk if I'm just gonna go ahead and get another 8 now or take the chance they'll still have some later in the year....

I have the Walmart version. They are foam. A "rubbery" foam, but foam.

4 in a garage...well placed...would rock. With no dsp they're awesome for music. I now own 4 cs1214 and 4 cx1200. If anyone needs comparison pics I'll get some. What messes with my head is the cs1214 is $32 Yr round at walmart and the cx1200 is $64?

Oh the first 16 were the end. I have a Bossobass Raptor system 3 so these were just to fill in near-field so the house doesn't collapse running the Raptors 15db hot. The other 16 will be either for my bro who's currently redoing his basement, or xtra in case I melt or bottom one(chances of this are lower than winning the lottery), or for a future project if I move.

I need my box to be narrow. Will 6.5 internal depth be a problem? The data sheet says the subs are 6 1/16.

Hi,

Currently, I am using my DefTech 8040STs as my only subs and I thought about getting 2 or 4 of these to use as subs. Will I notice a big difference going from the DefTech subs to two of these? I will power it with a iNuke1000, the non-dsp kind.

Thanks,

Mike

I highly doubt it unless you are pouring the coals to it playing death metal or dubstep at clipping levels for a long period of time. You could use a box that was 6 1/16" deep if you cut out the MDF or plywood behind the motor and substituted a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum with a gasket screwed to the outside of the box to ensure adequate venting of the motor.

I would spring for a DSP, it will make integration a lot easier, unless you already have a Mini-DSP or other DSP unit in the signal chain.

You would be 'Def' if you did not experience a difference, but only if adequately integrated and properly powered, given enough cabinet space.
