I literally just completed the 3X3 yesterday and I am still trying to get it dialed in. I am already digging the wall of bass feeling I am getting and will play around with placement to see what I like best. These woofers are so cheap I almost feel like it is a waste of money to NOT buy them when they go on sale.

I'm curious, too. Think of it as taking one for the team. Okay, so maybe not such a sacrifice.
I'm new to passive radiators, so I'm going with this on the recommendation of others. The point is to get more performance out of a small space. The triple will take up the same floor space as the double, it's just taller (d'uh). The PR (once you drill holes in the dividers) is moved by the air pressure generated by the speakers. Two JBLs to one SLAPS is the recommendation (math available elsewhere, if you're curious), so I'm going to take two of my triples and make two doubles plus a PR, then wire the four speakers to 4 ohms. I am very interested in seeing how it compares to the 3x3 I have (and can revert back to if needed). If you're doing one tower of two plus a PR, 8 ohms is fine for that amp, and performance will be much better than two speakers alone (so you're saving space [and money] compared to four speakers).

I have four of these: https://ebay.us/x5bwGS

Only complaint is that you can't count on the terminal cups being sealed. In my first box, I got some leakage from one. Subsequently, after soldering the wires to the inside of the terminal cups, I have buried everything in a small mountain of spray foam. It has worked like a charm. No issues with the seal on the joints.

FYI, they're still in their normal price range. Since I started watching them about 10 months ago the price has been doing up and down slightly and has stayed in the $49-53 range. Right now they're still about 60 cents cheaper than when I got mine.

Don't forget about CARID.com which was mentioned in one of these threads months (years?) ago that has the cheapest prices I've seen on the QPower boxes in any configuration desired.

Yeah, plus $18.51 to ship to NJ (plus tax).
So worth a look, but YMMV.

Thanks guys. I read further back someone was complaining about 1.2 cu ft being a little too small and running into some distortion. Anyone else feel that way? I actually don't live that far from QPower and could probably get a dual a little bigger than that if needed.

If you put one in a box and expect output at 20Hz, you'll get (more than) some distortion. In multiples (the more the better) with appropriate stuffing, they're tough little buggers.
OTOH, if you can get a custom box from them, it may be worth it to you. If nothing else, WE'D love to know how it works out.

That's probably me griping. They seem to get crankier at very low frequencies when the box is smaller. Not a huge deal.

That site sort of misled me. When I put something in the cart it was showing $0.00 shipping until I started the checkout process. However the charge was $18.51 for six 3-hole boxes, which isn't bad...about $3 extra for each one.

I am very pleased with the performance of these 3X3’s now that I have had time to get them dialed in a bit. The bass is just fuller and more effortless compared to the 2X2’s I had before. I have two towers at 1/4 room width and one behind my primary listening position so I like the placement flexibility. I left plenty of slack in the wiring so I can move them around as needed but so far I like them where they are. Thanks @LastButNotLeast for leading the way!Click image for larger version

Are you getting rid of the PB2000? Is this a DIY build? Do you have measuring equipment? WAF factor?
Need a bit more info on your needs/goals.

I strongly recommend different placement... 2 subs on opposite walls, or in diagonally opposing corners will sound best... both at the front will not... 4subs can be better, but isn’t as drastic a difference as two properly placed subs...

If you are not in a sealed rectangular room, all bets are off, but both up front still isn’t the best placement. Read dr toole, dr gedes stuff for more, otherwise do diagonally opposite or mid points of opposite walls, level match, and run mono...

Unless you want to dive into the rabbit hole with MSO and REW

Have a question and want it answered in podcast format?

Isn’t the gx1200 supposed to be identical to the cs1214? It’s showing a 21mm xmax on the 1214...this is right from the JBL site.

Yeah, the cx1200, gx1200, and cs1214 are the same woofer with different dust caps.

I’d say that whoever wrote that brochure got dyslexic with 12mm.

I got 2, so someone beat me to the other 2, and 4 more will be delivered Jan 2 to 22 which is actually good so I can cancel the 4 if I decide not to go this route. So Micheal better hurry up and let us know how 2+1 compares to a 3x3 😀.

I read on one of Nalleh's post that he hasn't even messed with adding any weights on these. I thought weights were needed to tune them lower.

How are they performing on your set up? Who else here are using these?

I really like the idea of these PRs even with the loss of output on the high end which you would EQ anyway so hopefully it IS the way to go!
Thanks

Ohoh I better edit this before Micheal reads it, I messed up on quoting!

^^^ That is correct, i use the SLAPS as is. BUT they come with mass added already!! They have a 255gram mass added, so the tune is a bit over 20hz with that mass.

So you do not have any issues with ULF below tuning? Ive seen your graphs and they are pretty wicked!

Also keep in mind that Nalleh is using them on VNF subs that are on top of a sled to get TR from them. It's a slightly different use case from using them as your main subs. I'm probably going to add extra mass (over the 255g that's preinstalled) to mine based on my preliminary REW sweeps that I just did. I'm using them with a 15" driver though. So add/subtract mass as needed for your use case and room needs.

Tjey said not to go over (was that 350g? on top of pre installed) a certain weight right?

Now the question is what is the magic box size with 2 JBLs and one of these.
