I'm not sure if there is an amplifier in existence that will be able to push the SAB-24 properly in an optimal sealed box, let alone the undersized box I'll be making.
I gave it almost half power of a FP14k @ 2ohms in free-air just to hit 2inches p-p @ 7Hz, and the thing is probably good for 4inches mechanically.

The [email protected] it puts out in that mode (or whatever it actually does) is gonna be "barely enough" me thinks...
That's almost a good thing in a way, because then it won't bottom... (but the FP14k might explode. hehe! )

I can only imagine! I only have 2 PA460's and they bring a smile to my face. I can only imagine what 16 would be like!

Yeah, you're right, my bad. I have no doubt that you're an international man of mystery/secret gov't contractor who gets away with posting about it on a public forum/karate champion. When you gonna sand and paint your speakers?

Cheers,
I was so busy building boxes that i didn't have time to wire it up. It's on my to-do list.
It takes about 2 full days to re-wire and re-dsp 40+ channels! It's not quick or easy.

No. Why?

Without a LPF you'll hear Mariah Carey's top note. Just like you would with most PA drivers...

I don't think I'd use them for replacing a speakers mid-range, it's no Beyma 6MCF200Nd if that's what you are asking.

Nor will it out-ULF 24's...

Their wheel-house is 25-300hz, anything below or above that is: YMMV

Clearly an array of them, corner loaded, with room-gain, will dig to single digits with some basic EQ. At the expense of "some amount" of max-spl loss in the upper-bass. (No free lunch.)

These are undersized sealed boxes, so the excursion below 20hz will be heavily resisted (or at all frequencies for that matter.)
By the time they run out of excursion, you'll typically either be deaf or the mid-bass will be overbearing (because you had it too hot to start with.)

Measurements talk... the rest is your conjecture. You don't find close mic data interesting, I get it. Nevermind then.

Are you sure you're just not understanding each other?
He's asking why would he do a FULL range measurement of a SUBWOOFER playing the 300hz and lower region?

Wouldn't you want a measurement of the bass region they're playing?

Ya, that's BassThatHz, he's a little cryptic. Just ask him again

What's measurement of bass region of MLP from 300hz down?

I believe in nearfield and farfield measurements.
Done so on everything I have ever owned and have also posted it on AVS (many many moons ago.)

I just haven't ran any, on those particular subs, yet.

I didn't have any time as I was too busy enjoying their farfield-sound for the brief unrestricted time-off I had, and relaxing my muscles having lifted two 400lbs boxes into position and lifting 16 woofers into and out of their mounts, plus 6 sheets of plywood. All by myself!

and I'm back at work now, so it will be months before I get any more time-off. (Don't hold breath.)

Shreds is a data-only type of person. If you've been around long enough you'll notice this theme in all of his interaction posts. He is clearly a science/math background type-person. Possibly an electrical engineer or programmer or appliance repair or a generic engineer of some particular field (loudspeakers/bridges/cpus/whatever). Was I close?

I meant, that's what he probably should reword/ask.

I'm not sure if the measurements you took are exactly what he wanted

I'm 100% sure.

I took only MLP measurements.

He is wanting nearfield measurements as well.

My reading comprehension is fairly good, more often than not. Me thinks!

He asked: If I did.

I said: No.

and then I asked: Why?

and he is all: pure speculation! Data-only! Commander Spock out!

It's easy, when you are in control of ALL technology on the site and everyone else there has an IQ of a redtape potato. That's how...

I control the firewall logs.
I control all the logs.
I control all the cables, and all the data.

If it saves data, creates data or has data flowing through it, it falls under my umbrella.

All time clocks.
All bioscanners and electric locks.
All data bases.
All drives and files.
All servers and client pc's, and passwords and keys and access cards.
All Faraday shielding layers, man traps.
All network switches, routers, firewalls and cables.
All circuit breakers, power cables and ups's.
All voip phones, printers/scanners/copiers/faxes.
All radios.
All security cameras, motion sensors etc.
All lab equipment.
etc etc etc
Even all the satellite-tracking locators in ALL personnel vehicles too.

We know where all the vehicles are at ALL TIMES, also: how fast they are moving, the battery voltage, the engine rpm, fuel level etc.
24/7/365
note: the vehicles also have hidden cameras /w mics, the employees aren't told about that! We know all.

No zombies are stealing anything or escaping the site, in one piece... (hehe! )

and now we wait... until build # 3

Amazingly low distortion, even at 10Hz; this sweep was barely 1mm p-p.

My room actually groaned during this sweep which I'm sure increased the THD some, and my room is well built too (it's not normal house construction grade.)
My room has always had a null around 85hz and a really rough response in the 100-300hz band. YMMV

If I understand this correctly it's barely above the noisefloor of the UMIK itself.
I'm very impressed by what you've built.

Can you post THD/compression sweeps at higher output levels? 100dB, 115dB, and MAX SPL would be nice.

I'll see what I can do.

My UMIK-1 clips at 120db on sineweeps in its 130db dip-switch setting. The UMIK-1's THD is pretty gross by-itself at this point.

115db, the UMIK could probably handle that cleanly.

Max SPL? Hell no! I'd likely rupture my eardrums.

Box-model shows 109db @ 10hz and almost 150db up top. Not bad for undersized sealed and $90 cones.

>115db from 14hz up.

But that doesn't tell us the THD at the MLP (which in my case is 3m back, not 1m); which is what that measurement was.

Build # 3 is now underway.

I got all 8 panels rough-cut.

sealed 25x25x26.5

Triple thickness on the front 2.25" (just like my 21's and LMS-18's are).

Knowing me I've probably screwed it up, somehow...

Next up is: precision cuts and then gluing.
Routing is tomorrow.
and let's not even talk about mounting the SAB-24...
