Long overdue Builds Build

After 14 long months of work I finally get to go home. (YAY!)

I have exactly 2.5weeks to get my 24 box done, the 16 460's boxes done, and 1 or 2 new HzHorn's done. (Weather permitting.) Otherwise it will have to wait another 4 months... UGH!

All your birch ply are belong to me!
It's gonna be crazy...

I'm almost 100% sure that I WON'T get it all done in time!
(and regardless... even if I do, I need more FP's before I can fire it all up at once. UGH! )

Cart well ahead of the horse as-always!

semi-related side note:
all 72 Motu XLR connectors should be in my possession by Wednesday-ish as per the amazon tracker...

Just shipped out a few hours ago...
Excellent Batman!

Reference level is the same volume whether you have one speaker or one thousand.

I don't use a receiver.

And the HzHorn are replacments, as the LMS-18 blew the box apart on the first attempt. I used barfnails instead of screws, that was a mistake! Never again!!!

No, my theater has it's own building 75ft away from the main house.
It's already not in my house (for that reason).

The only thing I regret was not spending the extra money to make it out of concrete on all 6 sides... preferably underground. DOH!

And it's not 100's of subs... it's "only" 29 subs. (For now... )
and mostly 18's or bigger.

Okay, get someone to dig a nice big hole underground for you, and start off with five sides of concrete... have a crane pick up the current theater and set it in there... then put in the 6th concrete side (ceiling in this case), and win?

Does that include the 16 PA460s and 24? If not, that'd be a total of 41 subs
I don't know anyone with 29 subs let alone 41

Bad news. There will be no nothing. End of thread.

On my way home, a momma deer ran out onto the road, I slowed down and moved into the fast lane in an attempt to dodge it,
but it made a dash for it, I took it's head clean off. I'm still in shock. I limped my vehicle the rest of the way home.

I'm having a stiff drink tonight!!!

Decide repair options in the AM, all the plywood money is going to the deductible now...

X more months it is!
I may just cancel the allotted vacation hours and just go back to work...
reschedule for a warmer season and /w a working vehicle...

That sucks! I don't understand how you still can't afford to buy the wood...you literally have bought $1400 worth of woofers, $400 of cables, a $1000 audio processor, I think you bought that $600 mic, but you can't afford like $300 of wood? Your truck can't cost that much to fix. I will agree with it being the worst time of year to try and do any building outside.

Autobody is now fixing my truck. ETA: Unknown...

Plan B

I've tested 48 of the 72 XLR connectors and those all work as well...

Can't test the remaining 24 f's until the AI gets here.

I've tested both mics and they work...

Now I have to spend some time SPL/response calibrating the mics (that will be required for taking accurate readings.)
When done... I will post the results and correction files of that.

Making some system-progress, just not the type I had planned...

@BassThatHz (or anyone else reading this) Have you ever done a close mic full range sweep of the PA460? Sorry about your truck man, that blows.

Can't say that I do.
All mine appear to be multiples or far-field.
None ported and none in their optimal boxes either...

Hopefully the AI will be here Tuesday.

Last night I recorded my first stereo recording using my ancient xonar line-in. It worked!

I then buried the mics in 4 layers and pillows and it yielded this, in a normal room with noisy gaming rig:

In an anechoic chamber I'm sure it is below 0db to 200hz or better.

Once the AI gets here I'll be able to use my laptop which has way less fan noise (although not 100% fanless),
and I'll try it in my theater (i.e. soundproofed and treated room), should yield even better results...
(I'm sure the isolation from proper stands would help too!)

Just bought this to beef up my security system:

Should be here Wednesday-ish.

Still no tracker on the AI... they must be sleeping on the job or hella busy!

With no truck I have instead been focusing on acquiring electronics. (As if you couldn't tell.)
I think the next thing I'll purchase is more FP amps, gonna need those regardless... as my system was already underpowered before I added 17 more cones!

Now that I think about it, my system has always been underpowered, pretty much since day 1. So that's another overdue aspect... more watts is a welcomed upgrade!

Then once my truck is repaired, fetching plywood I suppose! (and the weather will be better by then anyways...)

Security system has arrived.

Oops! I didn't realize that they came with POE injectors. Oh well... guess I have extra now.

Now I have to test each one to make sure they work!

Did a live-chat and they said the Motu stuff should ship out today or tomorrow. Special order. I did 2-day shipping so it should be here by Friday or Monday with any luck. Longer than I was hoping for, but given Christmas and the New Year + special order it's not unreasonable I suppose!

So, when will you sell all those puny 18" midranges of yours and buy around 50 nice 32" W0W-32 woofers? I'm not affiliated in any way, just saying you should step up.

Revel Ultima Salon 2, Revel M106, Revel C208, Yamaha P5000S, Denon X5200, Panasonic 65" VT50, Dual VBSS w Faital 18FH510
Kef LS50, Parasound New Classic, Focusrite 2i4 2nd Gen

All 4 cameras work. Excellent Smithers!

Got them connected to a UPS, so that they keep recording even if the power is out. Same for the fiber internet modem.

I need a bigger room first! 10,000cuft sounds about ideal...
Haven't even finished HT 1.0 yet, but it's already time for HT 2.0 LOL

Just like the tv show Hoarders, but expensive AV equipment instead of garbage!

Ironically the number of subs you are building will have the net effect of cancelling out all bass except for one tiny spot in your theater. You don't want to be in that one spot either because the concentrated bass wave will instantly transport you to the 23rd dimension...

Your theater is going to be insane!

Overnight shipping... is that even possible? There are no direct flights to here, and it is the heart of winter in the mountains.

THAT'S CRAZY if true.
Even amazon prime takes 2-3 days to get here dude.

I'll believe it, when I see it...

11 hours left, and it's still not even landed on the west coast yet (the flight part, and then there is trucking it the rest of the way.)
To get it here today they'll have to move it at break-neck speeds now...

I personally think they should have used an SR-71 it would have left NY at 5pm yesterday, and would have got here by 3pm yesterday (because it travels faster than the earth can spin. hehe )
