What do you mean by "tried to talk Erich into the Maximus". Was that a double 12" version of the currently available Maximus?

Maximus was the original design. It was a single 18” woofer version. Then the dual 18” woofer spawned from that this giving us the 1899. The Maximus is not an available model, the 1899 is. I said if the 1899 wasn’t available I would have gone with the titan or tried to get the Maximus.

As of right now I've only gotten offers to listen to 1099s and Tempest 12 with at least a 6hr round trip; no one in the ATL area as of yet. I would like to add that my reason for upgrading my LCR is my current Acoustech PL-89's just can't keep up with my dual ported HS24s....mainly the tweeter. During music I can hear the tweeter begin to break up or distort as I get closer to 0db on the MV. My setup is behind an AT screen with the lcr about 9.5 feet from the MLP and about 16ft from the rear seats. The candidates on my list use the following tweeter:
Fusion-15 - Denovo DNA-360
Titan-615 - Celestion CDX-1446
1299 - Denovo DNA-325
1099 - Denovo DNA-205

If at all possible, I'd like to feel as though the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert is being held 9.5ft away from me

As a matter of fact, I'm going down to my theater and listen to The Star Wars Suite by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra and prove to my wife that I need to upgrade my mains

Coming from someone with 1299s and 2 THTs, I can tell you that the 1299s have no problems keeping up with my horns. And, I don't think any of those you listed will.

However, if you can afford to go with the Titan, you should.

Typed on a tiny keyboard, excuse any typos

HT: Oppo UHD-203 | Crown Amps | NX3000D | NX6000D | 1299s | Volt 8s | THTs | Crowson Shadow 8s | BOSS riser | Panamax 5300PM | LG OLED 65B6P

If you send about a solid unclipped ~400watts into any of those designs, your hearing will be fried within minutes...That's not a joke.

If anyone ever says any of those don't go loud enough, then they either need to:
stop powering it with only an AVR,
or they just bought 1899's and are pulling a fast one on you!

Even at lower SPL's, you'll go deaf while being happy about it.

What BTH said. You have dual ported 24s but are then suggesting a lineup of diysg that are all overkill on the lower end actually.

Certainly titans are amazing and the top model...and a WAF killer...but if you want to hear beautiful music i would suggest 1099s...what benefit would you gain from large woofers in most of those designs? If you are 50 50 theater then i highly reco htm12s for the incredible seos15s. Otherwise a 3 way design is imo best for you.

Actually, I was just in Fayetteville yesterday. If I'd known that, I'd surely taken you up on that offer If Erich provided a flatpack for the 1299's, then I'd surely would've chosen them. I ended of choosing the Titans. The flat packs are on their way, but due to quit a few projects going on, I'll be purchasing the kits one at a time to keep cost down.

Wait, wait, wait. You say you are very fond of @BassThatHz , yet point out my frontstage list of diy speakers are overkill Apparently you haven't gotten to the part of his build thread that shows the 99 subs that he's running and if someone here ticks him off, he might just build 50 more Besides, when I'm in symphony mode, I listen to with my LR set to large with no subs...which is why I chose the Titans

You described a situation where the tweeters couldnt keep up. 12s or 15s for woofers does not help this right? ive heard all these models and the titans are king, and huge. BTH answered exactly as I did...and yes i have read his 1000 post thread start to finish and would argue nobody here is more qualified to answer. Share all your thoughts you get a more precise answer 🙄

i would not turn off well integrated subs to listen to a symphony but thats why we all get to build and use our systems our own way 👈 titans are always a winner they are the top design 👍

I said mainly Besides, this isn't meant to be a "recommend me a speaker thread", It clearly states "Audition" in the title. I'm not sure why you feel the need to praise BTH and wag a finger in my audition thread

You're going from BIC LCRs to Titans? Jesus... you're in for a "BEST DAY EVER" experience when those Titans are up and running. That's a stupid large upgrade. You could have just done Fusion 8s and it would have been a large upgrade. Titans?
Man, I can't wait to hear what you think about that.

And uh, don't listen to what anyone is saying about going smaller. Go larger if you can
What benefits do large woofers give if you have 24 inch subs? I don't care. Bigger is better

That's what ErichH said I'm sure you and Erich are right, but I wanted to make a splash And what better way to do that than with the Titans Since there seems not to be anyone here in the ATL that uses diysg speakers, I'll offer auditions to anyone who is on the fence
