SI IB24's are MIA

I started out planning my sub section around the original SI 18's, but had to change my plans after those were discontinued

After deliberation, I decided to go with a couple of SI IB24's... they are no longer listed on SI's web site?!?! I looked around for some announcement on the site and their Facebook page but didn't see anything.

Anyone heard if these have also been discontinued?

Probably why I never received a reply regarding the IB24
I was looking into the possibility of adding 2 IB24 in ported LLT enclosures to go along with my current ported HS24s.

Guess we need to start the search from scratch?

So I just did a google search for 24" subs and the SI IB24 was one of the first ones listed. I thought "OK, I'll bite" and clicked on the link to go directly to the IB24 page...

I've sent Nick an email but I haven't received a reply. It's been about 2 weeks.

The price was too good to last.
These 24's cost $220 from china, the magnet and coil still needs to be added, and double shipped at high risk.
That eats up most if the profit margin.
Good for us but bad for business, this is about the 5th time SI has introduced and pulled a design, only re-re-re introduce in later or never.

I was interested in these too. I just haven't had the chance to test an IB design to see how I like it, before I bought some of these. Maybe they'll be back in mkII.

Near tuning it's closer to 8x.

But above 40hz or so it's equal, and below 10hz it wins (unless you ported it uber low at 5hz...)

@mumbles60 were your plans for the IB24 actually IB? It looks like two HST18 model the same as 1 HS24 or IB-24. Two HST18s would be twice the price as the IB-24 was

No... I was considering a LARGE ported box and price is why I was looking at the IB24

Has anyone confirmed it's gone for good? @Electrodynamic would you care to give input?

What about the FTW-LTE 21 as another option?

I don't know about "gone for good" but it's not listed on his site. I believe Nick is busy filling orders, so it may be some time before he responds. The FTW-LTE 21 is still out of stock.

I'm eying the B&C 21DS115-4's, but I want to do 4 enclosures and their cost is making me look elsewhere. I'm also looking at the Fi Audio SSD18's. I modeled them this morning and came away thinking they might be a good option... which clearly means that my modeling must be flawed I'm going to try again this evening, start a new thread with my results and make sure I haven't put in the wrong values.

The Fi SSD 18 was measured at DB, I would get the UM18 instead.

I would certainly consider those if they were ever in stock. Waiting for them is like bidding in an ebay auction for a really popular item

Not only are they rarely in stock, but their price is steadily increasing If the Re Audio XX 18 Dual 2 V 2 was a little less expensive, I'd give it a go.

Price aside, what makes you like those Re's? Some people can look at T/S parameters and get a good feel for performance... I'm not one of those people (yet)

Well the Re Audio XX 18 Dual 2 V 2 is the little brother to the RE xxx18, which is a beast. The RE xxx18 was also tested at databass with impressive results. Also, according to MKtheater, he noticed an improvement after replacing 8 si ht18's with only two RE xxx18.

My disbelief that another huge value option is gone, and me feeling like I have been kicked......

I was also making plans to use a couple of these drivers, since the 18`s were discontinued. Maybe these will also get picked up by DIYSG or come back in stock. I still have some hope until I hear from the horses mouth......

At this point, I guess I will have to wait until DIYSG gets the 18`s and see if the 24`s are just temp gone or done for good.

How depressing. Hopefully another company will come around to give high xmax drivers a go. Malestrom X came and went, doomed by a bad batch of drivers, as notnyt can attest. SI came and went with their incredible HT18s at sub $300 pricing. (Now they cost over $700) Hopefully we will see another great performing driver that doesn't break the bank.

Everyone is afraid of the XXX because of the mid bass being so inefficient. I can tell you two of these in my room has better sounding mid bass than my 8 SI 18HTs. Now the SI will play louder for sure, in the mid bass. I ported mine in a wall so the port makes up for any sealed or IB I had. Honestly, If I had to start over I would get the XXX 18 or the SI 24. If TC sounds ever made the LMS 5400 that would be there as well. Two 24s in about any room would be plenty and then port it! My ears can't handle more than 130 dB in my room because it becomes so pressurized and all I can picture is a balloon popping. My SI's were probably capable of 140 dB in the midbass and my xxx 18s roughly 126. During movies and music I prefer the two XXX 18s. The low end is a whole different animal, xxx18 rule! I watched Kong for the first time with my new DIY speakers and speakerpower amp and in the beginning when the pilot reaches the cliff and stops there was a massive wave of ULF which I never noticed before. It was for tension of the scene.

140db is that at your MLP? My problem is the room that my 24s are in is not sealed and open to about 3/4 of the basement.

Yes, at the LP. I could never measure that loud but based on DB measurements and such. I would never be in the same room that loud anyways, never liked the high spl car stuff. Now 130 dB of ULF is cool to me, and about 126 dB of mid bass just pounds just about right.
