Heh, good to know.

Fi Audio 18" HT1 Build

My lapel mic was not up to the challenge but at least you can see the subs move.

I have the AT screen but it’s only about 14 inches off the wall. No way any of these Minimarty’s are fitting behind it

I just made these to go behind a curved a/t screen. They're like 15 or 16" deep. Could always do something like that...

Going to post a thread when it's all done and in place. It's for the 21ds115-4, tuned to around 16hz.

Nice, looks like a really good option for people with not a lot of room behind their screens

Haha ya definitely realize that now after having them in their boxes for a couple of weeks and getting comfortable with them. I hope he gets the HT2 and HT3 on the site soon so someone who really knows what they are doing can get their hands on them.

Depending on the final costs of the HT2/3 and a few other things I may end up buying one soon. If Ricci could test it soon I would send it to him. BUT I have a feeling he is very busy so I dont think that will be an option. BUT I am very curious to know more about these T/S for the HT2/3 and and how they really differ bewteen the models.

Hey @Buddylee123 , I'm considering doing a very similar build/combo later this year. Now that you've had these up and running for a bit, how are you feeling about them? Do you feel like you're getting enough power out of your Crown? Did you get your MiniDSP hooked up and do some sweeps/EQ'ing yet?

BTW- nice work on these, and thanks for sharing the details of your build and the info on the Fi Audio specs!

Thanks, I have been very impressed with them so far. I definitely don't feel the need for more bass right now if that says anything. I watched Annihilation a few days ago and I thought my vision was going to blur at one point. I was also testing some 20hz sine waves from REW yesterday, and right after I finished I walked out of the theater to a very concerned looking wife telling me I couldn't do that anymore because everything almost fell off a shelf that shares a wall with the theater I have the miniDSP set up, and it is set to 17hz with a 12db Butterworth filter. I have taken a few measurements but I'm not sure if they are correct so waiting on those. Next month I will be at Mikes and they are having a class on REW so I will test more after that. As far as the Crown goes it seems to be powering them with almost no effort. Also noticed that you are from Norman Oklahoma, I grew up in Ardmore.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying them. It certainly sounds like you found a pretty good match between box, driver and amp. Really helps that Fi was able to get 2 ohm versions to you. I'll wait to see how things go with the rollout of the HT1, 2 and 3 line. Right now I'm pretty inclined to follow your blueprint, here.

And, yep- I'm living in Norman by way of Bartlesville, originally, with multi-year stops in Lawrence, KS and Missoula, MT sandwiched in between. Actually have seen a couple other Oklahoma posters active in this subforum today. Maybe because we're all too broke to buy fancy-schmancy speakers so we have to build them ourselves to cut costs!

No, this as posted on their Facebook page about a week ago. Quoted from CrusherW9

We had hoped to be caught back up to our normal 10-15 business day lead time but are still in the 20-25 day range. Delays with vendors (Steel, magnets, sand) along with just the general mayhem of too many hours have taken its toll. We are catching up 1-2 business days per week and should be back on track in about 4 weeks.

Thanks for the support and understanding while we look ahead to a “Fi Only” build schedule from here on out 👍🏼🇺🇸"

So it seems it'll be at least 6 weeks until one could show up at your door The UM18s are still in stock...

These are "ideal settings". With a load, the amplifier will be a LOT more stressed out...

For bass-duty it's hard to beat a FP14k or a SpeakerPower or a PowerSoft.
Or if you really like Class-H for "some reason": a CC5500 or a CA20 (*if* you can find any.)

For me I really love the LED's on the FP14k's and it's overall robustness/cost, so I'll be sticking with those.
I like being able to easily tell how close to clipping I am.
I often look over my shoulder only to find myself running at the -4db LED, often almost clipping it. (Never enough bass! )

I never understood why meters aren't a standard for amplifiers, it only makes sense doesn't it? But even then they aren't always in 3dB increments either, but at least they help. Having the -10dB and then clip really doesn't help either. Where is the amp with meters thread ?

BTH, eventually you will have your wall of 24" drivers, and that exact amp all by itself driving all of them and not even close to the -10dB light It might be a while, but it will happen, just be careful in the meantime, because we are looking forward to that build

Which it being an American company I’m trying to be patient and give them some leeway.

I submitted a question for an update on their contact us page yesterday.

I know they finished the OEM work that they were doing. This was posted as a comment on their facebook page by them.

"I know we look really old from our picture (well the reality is we are old) but surely you cant misread "100 year old company" and figure its us? Fi is definitely not going out of business. I am just lamenting the loss of a family owned company that supplied us with raw parts we machined for most of our lines over the past 10 years. Sad to see them go. But Fi is on a solid path and you will see all sorts of new things and a refreshed attitude now that we are free from OEM work and can focus solely on Fi. Give us another couple of weeks to be well within the 10-15 business day lead time and we will announce a new program for purchasing that puts our money where our mouth is for time frames"

I will send him a text later today

Let us know what he responds with!

Have you found out between the beginning and present time if they plan on doing a 15? No need to ask specifically again today just curious if anything else had been said since the start of the Ultimax alternative thread.

Awesome thanks.

I know the majority of people want 18’s but for someone like me in a 1000^3 room multiple 18’s doesn’t make sense.
