It does pound and it could use a sister

After the DIY 120" AT screen project and the changing of the LCR to HTM 12s. I will try not to cave on that order, but bass...

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

Yes, there needs to be balance in the Force. First impression for anyone I have brought downstairs "The sound is so big, but the screen is so small." A 50" TV was not too bad at 7 feet, but 11 feet is a different story.

You just read my mind! The screen is 104.5" wide, the sub is only 40", that leaves 64.5" for improvements

In the current position the response is excellent, no sign of room mode nastiness. Co-locating a second is definitely an option!

So you can at least double your current setup, if not redo the existing and go for 3/4 across the front stage lol......

Ha! I’m about to start building two of these beauties starting this weekend. Kinda’ funny to see this thread active again all of a sudden!

@Red Five - are you still happy with this bad boy? Also, just want to thank you for posting such a detailed account of your build. It’s a huge help!

I still love this subwoofer. It is currently setup in a concrete tank that is 6000+ ft3, the house was built in 2007, not all that old and well built. The comment upstairs was I really enjoy your massage couch from my buddies wife when we were demoing Blade Runner 2049 intro scene. If you are setting them up on a suspended floor you are going to have a lot of fun! I should have taken pictures of some sound proofing. The house had 14x14" access panels in in various places in the basement ceiling. I had to take gasket tape to all of them to keep the vibration in check along with all picture frames.

If you are doing a build please take some pictures

Yeah- I’m on slab too, unfortunately. But, based on your impressions, I think two of ‘em should still hit pretty hard in a sealed ~3,500 cubic foot room.

I’ll definitely take pics and document my build. Really looking forward to getting started!

This models very similar to the 21DS115, but comes in $150 each cheaper. https://www.parts-express.com/lavoce...8-ohm--293-732 The Lavoce were not at PE when I did this build.

1x4" select pine from Menards, anything less is not even close to straight and full of knots. The quarter round was 11/16th, I think it was also pine.

Here was the first 2 I'm modifying them to fit the b&c21s instead of the um 18s and the next 2 will be built to fit the 21s I'll be updating the original thread with updated build progress. I'm also doing 2 more 21s nearfield in the bar. This is all on a suspended floor so should be quite fun it was allready crazy with the 2 v3s and 2 cyclops 18s hoping for downright nuts now.

Lol I was actually going to do 2 more b&C 21s in the rear for a total of 8 21s but thought I better do the 6 first and see if the house can handle it. If the model is right just the 4 horns should get me close to 150 or high 140s

That could potentially cause structural damage lol. How close are your neighbors? You could rattle stuff off of their walls at that volume

Something like that was my idea lol... take your existing driver (but 3 more), tweak the current box dimensions to be able to fit 4 along that wall, leaving port tune and port dimensions the same......

I feel set in that direction. I have ran more sims if I did a three box setup. 2 of the current boxes with the B&Cs and then a third 40" wide 16cuft internal volume 15hz tune, not that intrigued. 4 B&Cs still seem the better option.

I could do two monster boxes with UM18s 16cuft 15Hz tune and then use the B&C as a mid bass module between the UM18s, not too feeling that one either lol.

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

Stormbreaker Cube

The original enclosure would only allow 3 subs to fit under the AT screen, so it was time to go back to the drawing board. I did some math consulted @LTD02 and this is what we came up with!

The cube is roughly 1cuft less in volume than the full enclosure, ~10cuft internal volume with an ~18hz tune. I would estimate two inches added to the back or top of the enclosure should bring it close to 11cuft and a removal of 4 inches of port length should bring the tune back to ~18hz.

That’s awesome! Marty cube XXL?

So you’re building 4 of these now? You said it’s a big room, about how many cubic feet?

Maybe for my next room something similar in each corner would be adequate...I really need to get off these forums. So many great ideas!
