I tried to find a "this thread is worthless without text" meme, but surprisingly it doesn't exist.

I'm also strongly considering breaking out the UXL 18's. I already have dual LMS Ultras in the tiny room, now I'm going to insert the FTW's, and perhaps I'll dust off the UXL's and try to fit them in there somewhere.

Welcome to AVS Instagram.

Lol, well it's a big a$$ sub with 21" drivers from Mach 5 Audio. These drivers have been sitting on a shelf for a few years. Originally I was going to go dual opposed and I even had the box 85% done, but then I moved a bunch of times (like 4) and the box went into storage. Cue earlier this year when I finally settled down and I come to find the box got wet and is now full of mold. New build engaged, however even though I have a full basement I won't be able to finish it for at least 3-5 years at least. So I've set up shop in one of the spare bedrooms, but it's tight in there and won't support a dual opposed build, so now I'm lining them up vertically. It's been awhile since I've built any speakers or subs so I'm a little rusty, but it's all coming back to me.

I don't see a port, so I assume sealed and EQ'd, right? What's the box volume?

Love the pics! Please keep them coming.

By my calcs a few years ago these are the best bang for the buck in as small a sealed enclosure as you can go. For ported some 18s are even better, space wise.

There is some stank from this sub forum that flairs up from time to time that have had issues with coil rub, and this appears to have happened a few times over several years. But from what I have seen the seller has covered this, minus some inconvenience. Hand made stuff should be fully checked before shipment, but shipping happens.... I have had issues with other 15 to 18 mass produced subs, in car audio and home studio. Very different applications, but they may have been from user error or mechanical? This seller seems to back their stuff up more often than the mass sellers...

I have 4 of these purchased over 3 different time periods going in sealed, ported and just finishing a final 4th all sealed arrangement. I've have tried to push them to their limits in a too small a room for their capability with only two and after bowing out, and with another amp and another 2 ftw-21s, which was a bit dumb, have settled into just playing with ultra low dsp boost levels... My cheap bum shakers end up taking over at some point, or the house just wants to give up. On concrete I want to try the Croswans or whatever, but it needs to be balanced with other rabbit holes to follow. Too many wants and toys...

On concrete floors you can only do so much to reproduce big gun shots (50 cal) and larger.... at some point you just end up scaring fellow participants...

Thanks, I thought so. Mine are 400L net circa 14.1cf. One dual sub in front of the couch, one behind.

Sanded and with the roundover put on. I was going to go bigger with the roundover, but I couldn't fit the 1.5" and the 1" wasn't in great shape so I didn't want to risk it.

Trying to remember how this whole spraying thing works. In any case, first couple coats of primer applied haphazardly.

I don't see no beginner....

Just go easy on the power to begin with as your home may no like the new additions!

They look great.

There's a dedicated 30 amp line in there for the two sub amps. I'm going to run a dedicated 30 amp 240 when I have the funds for a speakerpower amplifier. However, right now the single line will have to do. I think it'll be alright because it's a really small room so it won't take much to hit reference levels.

Thanks, it's been a few years since I've done a speaker or subwoofer build so this was a relearning experience. Now that I'm settled I'm hoping to get back into it.

Yea, carrying it up from the basement by myself was no picnic. At least it slid really easily into position.

Well, it's behind a couch. The only problem is that there isn't enough room to lay it down so it's standing up behind the couch. Pretty intimidating if you turn around.
