Hello,
I (Kyle) would love to attend, and bring my stepfather (Jim), if there's still room. I'm new to the forums and honestly still an aspiring audiophile, but this sounds like a great time.
We are both from Columbus, Ohio. I currently have a Klipsch setup, just ordered some KEF speakers, and Jim is a big B&W fan. As an engineer, I've always liked the idea of DIY audio; I just don't have a house of my own yet. Jim just finished dry-walling his new basement media room, and is in the process of choosing the audio gear.. He's pretty sold on the B&W 7 series, but I think some DIY setups like yours could change his mind.

My DIY Audio experience is still limited. I'm currently rebuilding an amp from the 70s (I think), VU meters and all, to give to Jim for Christmas. At my day job I build kit cars (such as the Shelby Cobra), and I'm in charge of all the audio systems. Today I designed and 3d-printed brackets to mounts the Audiofrog crossovers in our Type65 (think Daytona Coupe), and tested the new tweeter location in our MKIV Roadster (Shelby Cobra). The tweeter needs to move, so the new parts are on the printer as I type this message.

Basically, I'm still a fanboy who would love to learn more and meet some who are more skilled in DIY Audio than myself

Welcome to this crazy life of HT/DIY

I’m sure you will be in knowing Jarod and Jermey they would love to have the both of you. You will be apart of 2 amazing rooms and 100% DIY, from speakers to construction. Both of you will never hear anything like this again I don’t think and I think your dad will change his mind after hearing both these rooms, he will switch to diy not just for the sound but for the savings for a small amount of work.

Looking forward in seeing some old and new faces at this GTG.

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to travel for work and won't be able to make it. I'm truly bummed and hope to make the next one. Enjoy the bass!

Sounds like a fun and exciting job. I added you both to the list. I definitely think hearing these 2 rooms will give you a better idea what diy can sound like and for a realitivly small price for the 13 speakers I have like 2800 into them so not to bad at all. Subs that's another story between the recent upgrades with amps and subs it's around 4k

Wow! We’re up to 28 attendees! Thanks for all the interest guys! I know what I’m thinkin...... where is everyone gonna fit! At least at my place. But everyone in the past has always been super considerate of each other and shared the good spots to bunker down. I’m really getting excited for this. I hope my room lives up to expectations

Thanks yeah I love being able to share all my hard with everyone. For most of the year it's just me and the wife in there and family when they come over and they aren't obsessed about all the theater stuff it's nice sharing it with guys that are as much into this hobby as me. I wish I could tell you guys how crazy the bass is but I'm not sure what to expect I know the 21s in Mike's room are nuts so in the horns I'm thinking it's going to be downright crazy especially mid bass range where the horns excell. There tuned to 17hz so not super low but still think it will be sufficient. Saving the nearfield for last worst case if I dont have time they'll go in the rears but I think I'll be able to get everything done in time

I make this GTG if you have room for 1 more. I'll send a private PM as well

Just finished a small sealed JBL 1100 subwoofer using a 300w plate amp. would be small enough to bring. I have 2 but I should be enough... maybe use with a 2ch demo. Purchased he sub on sale for $25.00 amp was another 115.00

***SALE***
I also have 2 pairs of Fusion 12 Tempest if anyone is interested. ALL are painted black. I just bought some veneer to make them pretty. I can leave them for the new owner to finish however they want. I beleive I bought Red Oak Veneer which I can sell with the speaker. 1st pair have been used lightly for 2ch. 2nd pair have less that an hour of play time. Just sitting in my basemsent collecting dust while I finish my theater room. QSC 2150's in there.

I also have 2 Crown X1000 amps with original boxes for sale. I was going to use them with my JBL subs but due to location, that didnt work. $130 each.

Any interest, let me know and I'll bring them.

Bob

Sweet I'll put you on the attending list. I remember when deciding if I wanted qsc 2150s asking you a million questions about them. It will be cool to put a face with people's avs names. Yeah and you're more than welcome to bring stuff to demo or sell

I may be interested in one of those Crown amps. Got set of CVs I want to put some real power to.

Southeast Michigan 2019 diy gtg tour

I’m sending PMs with info on the gtg. If you are expecting one and don’t get it, TOO BAD.
Nah, I’m just kiddin just send me a PM and I’ll get you the info.
Very excited for this. I think it’s good timing. Not too much to look forward to in January.
Oh, and if you said you can’t come, I’m sending it to you as well. Just in case your plans change.

Southeast Michigan 2019 diy gtg tour

Sorry, won’t be able to make it. My wife’s birthday is that weekend. I’m hosting a meet for the SMAC group the 19th of January though, for anyone who’s interested in attending. SMAC is the southeast Michigan audio club and they do monthly GTGs but are more 2-channel audio focused. Some of the guys have some systems that are crazy expensive but there are some DIY guys like me in there too.

As I get close to decommissioning my theater (and holding back tears) this gives me something to look forward to! I'm actually bidding out the move and stressing how heavy/fragile my HT stuff is, so finding a good mover is important.

Gonna miss my Chicagoland HT guys, but since I know the SE MI guys pretty well already, the move won't be so bad.

Also matt I know your name is wrong in the attending list for some reason it is just giving me a white screen when I go to edit but is acting like everything's still there . It's only doing it on this post very weird.

Anyone from the west side of the state driving in? I would be happy to carpool from Lansing as well.

I'll be driving from the Grand Rapids area.

I might be able to make this but I will be driving from Montreal, Canada. I wanted to know if there is hotels/motels where people are staying or is everybody leaving the same day?

Phil.
