I think 48 wide by 42 high is the biggest I want to go. I still need to keep the depth to 18 inches. I'm making progress with winisd but I can't the port lengths done seem to line up with the designs on the forum. I think I read something about the type of port you designed effectively lengthening the port but I don't know how to model that. Any recommendations?
for a slot port, the height of the port is added to the physical length, then a further half a hertz or so of adjustment is typical.

so if you want to design a cab with a 18hz tune, set the winisd value to 18.5hz.

then, if the port is 4" tall and winisd tells you to build it 42" long, subtract the 4" height and build the port 38" long.

after all is said an done, it will end up around 18hz.

sometimes there is a little divergence, but typically very small, less than a hz or so.

the tricky part comes in when the port is close to an internal wall of the cab, because that will effectively lengthen it further. no such adjustment is needed with your design though because the port ends up firing more toward the middle with plenty of space before any interior elements (bracing or wall).

Thank you for confirming. I'm picking up the MDF today and looking for PE to have a Black Friday deal.

@Illini2000
a few bits.

the port length is the red line. it sticks out of the cab about 2" and extends into the cab about 2" since it is about 4" tall.

as drawn, the port is about 38" long, plus the port height of 4", so about 42" total.

the brace circles in yellow will interfere a bit with air flow from the port. not a big deal, but if possible to relocate the brace up to the dark blue, that will keep it far enough away from the port not to have an effect and it will also help brace the rear panel a little better. i would move the top horizontal brace down by 3.5" to be under the top set of front-back braces for the same reason.

should be a good performer!

Thanks @LTD02 , I drew those as wide as I think they can go and still fit the 21" drivers. When I get them I'll figure out how large the hole needs to be and push them as far away from the port as I can. I could frame the driver hole and then make the braces out to the sides connect higher on the square frame instead of being a single piece going side to side for the bottom of the frame.

I took the day off work today and made some progress. The drivers are ordered and the wood is cut for all four cabinets! We've got people coming to stay for Thanksgiving so I don't know when I'll get to start gluing. Still need to paint and wire the Titans too.

Sweet! It would be nice if you post your impressions as you test. I am sure some on here would like to hear your thoughts as we have looked at the titan's as a possible future investment.

Having been to @eng-399 's house for his latest GTG, after hearing john wick2 in the subterranean caves, what he has is INSANE!

I would love to have four 21’s Nearfield...instead of 6-15’s I think that would be fun! The bass though is enough when your sitting in the last row. It gives you that punch that’s so much fun

All three Titans are complete. I've only listened to a pair of them running off a Sonos Connect Amp with the speakers right next to each other. They sound amazing even off that little amp. I may try to move them into the theater space this weekend and to listen to them but the theater still needs paint and carpet so I can't really start testing properly. I think I've got a month until the carpet goes in so I guess it is back to working on the subs...

Kind of makes your eyeballs wobble whether in the back row or not!
Although 4 21s would be cool.

Painting in the basement starts today so I'm getting closer. Bracing is complete for the first sub, hopefully I can get it lined with foam tonight and the baffle on tomorrow. This thing is too heavy / large for me to move around so I'm going to have to find help to move it outside to clean up the edges and sand it. Only three more to go!

All 4 subs ready for paint. It is too cold to do duratex in the garage right now and I won't have space in the basement until the construction is done. 2 more weeks or so. Getting closer!

I think they sound awesome but I'm still getting them dialed in and trying to figure out how to use rew. I can make graphs but don't know how to do anything to improve them yet.

They do make the titans look tiny. I guess I'll have to add another 15" to them to make them look right

I was just gonna say....... all that space above the Titans is missing something. You need to add the second 15”. I just completed the crossover tweaks to accommodate the added 15” and it made me smile. Bass is satisfying without subs. The Hanz Zimmer Prague Blu-ray was proof of it. I listened to a few songs and thought to myself, man it sounds good, but I was expecting more bass. Only to realize the subs were off! Then I was very impressed.

Congrats it’s hard to beat titans and 4 large subs as a front wall. I’ve not read the thread yet but I absolutely will. Great job!

I was thinking the exact same thing!

Jk, will you/have you published the crossover tweaks? I hope to do the same thing a few years from now.

I’d ask @mtg90 for the info. It’s not mine to publish, ya know? I’m not sure if it’s ok or not to post another man’s work.

This modification involves adding an additional woofer to the design resulting in greater bass output. A second woofer and cabinet can be purchased as the 15" MBM kit on DIYSG. The second woofer gets wired in parallel with the first woofer on the crossover board with minimal modifications to the crossover board required.

A 4uF cap should be placed in parallel with the 18uF cap (or replace the 18uF with a 22uF cap). A 10 Ohm resistor shall be placed in parallel with the 6 Ohm resistor (or replace the 6 Ohm resistor with a 4 Ohm resistor). Finally remove or cut a lead from the 33 ohm resistor.

Thanks Matt and tj! I guess I need to start a Titan Document with all the data and tweaks...
