That’s a tough call. I think 4 is the right way to go

Yes! Just a ported 21DS115 in 6000cuft does a good job. Kevin is building three of these for his own setup. They sound that good. He is loading SAN214.50s in his.

Ive been going back and forth for a couple months about what direction I wanted to go. I picked up 2 B&C 21's and was going with the 21MBM then Kevin hypnotized me into the HT21's...then I hear about the "taller" HT21 which is hitting the site this weekend as well. Now the Devastator is calling my name.

Problem is it doesn't really fit my speaker wall very well. Too tall to fit under my screen (not enough room depth to go behind the screen). I run out of room for my LCR and 2 Devastators....but I like the idea of a horn.

I'm 75% music and never having heard a horn I wouldn't know what to expect. I building a LCR Maximus 12-lxe set right now to replace my Fusion 12 LR and 8 center.

Funny (pathologically sad really) is that this 'rebuild' was to just get a new center to keep up with my Fusions 12's. Once I peaked down the rabbit hole it was too late.

If you are mostly music the Dev makes a lot of sense. You can set a higher HPF filter on it and then go into full music war mode. The passband on the Dev is great, no resonance somewhere that is less than ideal. Size is manageable relatively speaking

So do we know what these are 'tuned' to or is that not a thing with horns?

Tuning on that rear chamber for the original design was 18.9 or 18.8Hz. I doubt that changed much at all. I can check with Kevin.

I'm not one of those guys chasing single digits....just looking for dynamic movie and solid, accurate bass for music. Thanks for checking BTW.

Does anyone have an SPL curve on what this would look like with the LaVoce, however with a HPF set in the mid 30s? Ive been spending alot of time deciding on a way to go for a tremendous amout of MidBass behind the AT, from multiples of 18s to 21s. My convo with Kevin some time ago urged I wait for this, now that its here I’d like to see how it performs in the musical midbass realm for Live PA type kick drum, etc.l from the mid to high 30s up to 100hz or so. Curious to see how much is lost due to the 19hz tune vs ported multiples.

So if someone has access to spl curves with ab HP that would be great!!

Per the previous remarks, looks like Kevin is building a trio of these with the Lavoce so there's that.
Your Exactly where I am. I've waited this long...I guess I'll give it a little more time to see what is revealed about this box.

I swear, John and Kevin never sleep. Then again, I imagine it would be hard to with that many subwoofers firing off.

Got a few pics of the Devastator and the new taller 21HT. I might have to tear out a wall to fit in a couple Devas.

I just finished these full Marty's two days ago with hst18s . I watched my first movie on this new system last night and I thought wow this is the best theater I've ever had. I don't think i'll need anything else.
Now I see this and I'm wondering if I can fit a horn somewhere.. I gotta stop reading this forum for a while

It can be tricky depending on how shallow you try to go. The cross section of the front chamber must be close to 225in2, does not matter really what the dimensions are for the most part. The stock Devastator is 22.5in x 10in, so you would change the width to whatever it is you want then figure out what the depth will need to be. Keep multiplying things until you reach 225in2. The length of the front chamber must be close to 110cm or 43.3 inches if you want to maintain the basic response.

The rear has a port that needs to be a specific length to reach a desired tune with a specific displacement, so that is not too complicated.

Just ordered a 4 pack of Full Marty 21's. The pricing structure makes it hard to just order 2. I'm just installing two and either keeping the other pair back for a future, bigger room or putting them up for sale.

Tried every which way to fit a couple Devastators into my space but without tearing out a wall and rebuilding it wasn't going to happen. Besides, that would have been doubly expensive because in addition to the construction costs I'd have to add in the alimony payments it would generate when my wife would find out.

Will post some pics when they arrive and maybe do a build thread.

I did a time lapse video of the 18” Full Marty box assembly. I will create a new edit of this too with voiceover to match the instruction book in the coming weeks. Hope it helps someone build these monsters! https://youtu.be/MxAI01uvH88

If 2 Fulls are laid on their sides next to each other.... are the ports in the middle or on the outside? Seems like on the outside would "spread" the love a little?

Hmm. I'd love to see a direct comparison of the response curve of these new 21" Martys vs. the 21" horn. The size of the two isn't terribly different.

I'm going to lay my on their side>> Left 21Marty Center 21Marty Right. Not sure it will make a difference but I plan to start with the ports outside and then compare.

It depends on your room and your seating location whether it will accentuate or reduce nulls and peaks at the listening position. Try both ways, and measure the results.

Big thanks to the guys at GSG! They are great to deal with and make a quality product! Building these subs was a blast and I love the way they sound and feel! I was on the fence for quite a while about building a Marty sub until GSG came along. So easy to assemble and for the price it is an amazing value. Best investment in my setup to date!
