Expert help - 21NLW9601 in TH?

All you hornresp experts, can the 18Sound 21nlw9601 work in a single fold TH like cattskinner made for the 21ds115?

http://www.eighteensound.com/Product...3317/21nlw9601

There is a local guy selling a pair and I thought and I thought a big TH project might be fun, but I am not a TH expert. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm no expert either, but those drivers model similarly to the 21sw152 and 21ds115... I also believe Ricci says they will work in the skhorn. I was thinking about doing just that after building new mains since I have a few of them. They may work in the submaximus as well. Will need to play with hornresp to be certain... perhaps someone with more experience modeling horns can help?

Haven’t modeled yet and I don’t know much about the requested horn but it has some serious motor force. I don’t know how stiff the cone is but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work in a TH?

From what little I know about TH's, I think it might work but I wanted experienced members verify that for me.

If it helps, I have compared the cones between the 21sw152 and the 18 sounds 21NLW9601 and they are similar strength wise. They are both slotted just underneath their respective manufacturer's IPAL offerings in their lineups.

I wonder if they source the same cones?

They are similar but don't think identical. They have measured nicely from my highly scientific push and tap on the cones tests lol. I definitely prefer B&C's ground rubber gasket over the 18 sounds foam gasket...but that is a cosmetic issue that is completely solved in higher order alignments that obscure the cone

Any other thoughts on the suitability of this driver in TH's?

Should work fine.

18 Sound in black, B&C in gray.

For clarification - this is the model for cattskinner's "Sue" tapped horn.

Glad to see you got some input on that, and I am looking forward to hearing about your experience with the design. It's a whole lotta' lotta', no mistake, or by my humble standards.

I am used to a "whoke lotta lotta" (I currently have dual-opposed sealed FTW-21's fed by few kilowatts ), but trying a different flavor is always fun. I have had sealed, bass-reflex, horn, and infinite baffle subs over the years and I thought a big tapped horn would be a great experiment.
