My room is close to yours at 17x25x9. I went with the 1099s for the horizontal center. I sit 10-12' from them and love them.

I've never heard the HTMs, but there are plenty of glowing reviews to tell me they'd be great as well.

I've got the HTM-12's and absolutely love them. Best sounding speakers I've ever owned. That being said, if I had the physical space where they are placed (my room is huge, I just didn't have the space up front), I'd have gone with one of the 3-way designs. Mind you I haven't *heard* and of the 3-ways, but I hadn't heard the HTMs either before purchasing either. So I have *no idea* of which would be better in comparison, only that personally, I'd have gone with a bigger speaker if I had the space for them.

comparing those 3 is ez.....

htm10s and htm12s use a very large waveguide designed to provide controlled directivity and utilize high quality PRO components such that they have extremely high sensitivity. they also have amazingly wide coverage due to the waveguides. the htm12 is simply a bigger htm10. which to buy a friend told me dude 30 dollar difference....i bought 12s.

the 1099s are a 3way design, versus a 2 way in the htms. the designer suggests if you like music you may prefer the detail the 3 way provides. i have heard them 3 times and each time an a+ in playback quality.

i would be happy with any of the 3. however in my view the magic in these speakers, besides the crossover design is the giant waveguides. using research started by jbl and klipsch a team of avs members spent years refining them.

so as such i would point you towards the htms

Both are great. 1099's have more midrange detail and are easier to drive but its not like the HTM's are power hungry either. I felt like the HTM's have a bit smoother top end. I would base your decision more on your theater design choices. Are these all going behind a AT screen? How much room behind the screen will you have? What do you plan on powering them with? What surrounds? What volume level do you normally listen at?
