Haven't heard anything yet. Considering the length of time between them teasing for the ultimax and its actual release, so far it still seems par for the course. After all, there is a sizable window of opportunity for a high performance subwoofer driver between the UM18 price and the HST18 price.

Went by Parts express room today.

On phone so will be brief.

Drivers are expected Q4 2019.

Will be called RSS HE - High Excursion series

10/12/15 use 3” VC 20/22/24mm true overhang. Only 30mm inward xmech soft bottom from the bottom spider with top plate. All three share same motor.

18” is in development using 4” VC no word on specs yet.

All drivers should be high motor strength/low Qes.

No word on cost yet but will be more expensive then Ultimax drivers.

As nice as these seem to be, I'll stick with my original 12" Reference Series. More than enough bass for this ol' boy.

Lol am I the only one who wants a Dayton 21”? Whether it’s a PA, Ultimax, or RSSHE?

That would be fun.

Very excited to see these new ones come out. Might have to sell my Ultimax 18 for this one if it’s that cool

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

interesting route theyre going. thanks matt.
curious if when they get the 18" motor figured out, theyd be willing to bolt it onto the 15.
quite a bit of pump on a 10" cone, if Fs is low enough could make for little beasts in small rooms.

Here are a few pictures of the 10 and 15". Was said that these are still prototypes and don't have the exact parts that will be used on the production drivers. He said that the back plate would be switched from the flat ones used on these to a bumped back plate with under VC vents (not that you see that in the photos). 15" also has the wrong surround(will have taller roll) and dust cap(will be larger).

the new breed of beefy high excursion drivers. not something Dayton has really ever been known for. Even back in the day with companies like Blueprint drivers or the Brahma being released and the shift towards that sort of driver (albeit a good bit later) Dayton didn't release that style of driver. The ultimax was a deviation from their normal fare in that way.

Good Lord, these look like they'll give Stereo Integrity a run for their money, very excited for these! They are going to be incredible! 🙂

I definitely hope the t/s parameters are optimized for smaller enclosures. I really don't like that the Ultimax series requires such massive boxes if you're going ported. Very inconvenient if our space limited at all.

If these sacrifice sensitivity for smaller enclosures I won’t be interested.

I wonder how it will compare with the SI RM-15 in specs and price.

I've been having this problem as well. I bought two more Ultimax 18s and they're still sitting, I don't have the space for boxes! I should have measured before I purchased lol A switch to four 15s in smaller boxes might be in my future!

About what I expected, although surprised by the 30mm xmech. I'd assume it'll be much further for the 18", considering they are still working on the 18". If these can get anywhere near 200 on BL2/RE for the 18 then they have a winner on their hands.

People seem to expect one driver capable of doing everything in the world, and that's just not possible.

I don’t know if this meant as a snide against my remark or not, but there are quite a few high throw/high sensitive speakers already.

If this is more like the Typhany speaker than I have no interest it. If it competes with some of the sundown speakers than I’m really interested.

I doubt it'll be like the tymphany driver. It doesn't appear to be increasing things with no real rhyme or reason to it. It looks like a HO with more motor force and higher excursion capabilities.
