Lol, no. That’s a much bigger cabinet then mine. The speakers match pretty well, also not planned. My friend is very happy with this setup. I have to get rew fired up over there and take some measurements and tweak a little. I’ll post measurements if anyone’s interested.

Nice job on your finish. Those 893's really are the sweet spot when it comes to living room speakers. There seems to be a bit of a push to make the 893's available again - hopefully your build can add some momentum to it.

Spoiler!
Man, I love that finish on those. And the trim rings really cleans things up well. It would be great if @Erich H could add this design back into the mix. After seeing this thread, these really do make more sense than the 1099's for a living room setup.

Do you happen to have a build thread on those? I'd love to get an idea of how you achieved that finish.

I can’t bring myself to throw them out.
Do happen to still have these? If so, would you be willing to ship them?

I see that Erich still has the woofers available in the B-Stock section, and if he is able to get the other components, I could see me being a happy little camper.

Thanks,

Darrell

The 893s are coming back for a second run.

He kept the Baffles as otherwise I was gonna snatch em up.

He’s planning on building towers with the baffles

There was a thread here awhile back with Erich speculating about a return of the 893's.I agree about them being an ideal living room speaker.
If you search Steve's threads you'll find a build thread. It might be with his subwoofer build if I remember correctly.

I hope Erich keeps the original baffle design instead of the roundover baffle.Much easier to veneer.

Either way though,I'd like to see a return.I might build a couple of towers and use my sealed 893's as surrounds

That might explain why I couldn't find it. I'll have another look.

And yes, I do recall seeing that thread, but it's been a while. Wasn't sure if it was still in the works or not.

Thanks,

Darrell

Thanks. I’ll do another thread. The only thing different will be a darker stain and a satin poly. I want these to be beautiful. And nicer then the ones I sold my friend.

I'm with you on the darker stains. That's also what drew me to Steve's Zebrawood laminate that he used on his.

Sorry to take so long to respond. I used laminate. My build thread is in my signature.

I turn the sharpness on my TV all the way up, because that's how I like my picture... real sharp.

No problem on the response time. I was able to find it and saved the link for the zebrawood laminate.

My wife is also quite fond of it as well, so that’s a good a thing too.
