Just gluing up these awesome flat packs. I love putting these together. The thought that’s put into them just shows. Everything flushes up so nice and the kits are impossible to mess up.

Don’t worry you take I-80 to 355 north to 55 south that avoids Joliet and there bridge. Joilet isn’t that bad to

Last question on the 893s. Any plans to add grills to them or just gonna run em without?

Does your yard cut accurate? I'd love to off load box building to someone with the right equipment.

Yes very. Better then I could ever do. I’ve had them cut every box I’ve built once I found out about them. Mann’s lumber. I still have to assemble the pieces, but that’s the fun part.

Been about a year now when I was last dazzled by @Steve Kuester 's 893s in the frozen tundra of Minnie. Had had a quad of sealed Ultimax 18s, and the result was very pleasing.

I love the flat packs. When I have to cut my own I never seem to be able to get it exact. I'd gladly pay someone to cut and let me assemble. Going to hunt the local yards to see if anyone here offers that service.

Good call. I just email my cut list over, and they quote it, three days later I’m picking up perfect flat packs.

I've been enjoying the renewed interest in the 893s on the forum lately. I know I'm biased since I own a set, but it really is a great sounding speaker.
I think an even bigger selling point, however, is the smaller form factor. If you have a smaller space or a living room where other opinions on decor matter, it really is an acceptably sized 3-way compared to the 1099s or 1299s.

I turn the sharpness on my TV all the way up, because that's how I like my picture... real sharp.

Hello everyone, newbie here have 2 1099 kits, on order for left front and right front, will the 893 integrate with them as a center? Thanks

I would love to do this! I don't think the Home Depots near me are up to the task!

I'll try calling some real lumber yards. That would be amazing not having to deal with the table saw cutting MDF dust!

JK’s 893 build with subs

Here’s a full scale layout of the boxes for subs I drew up with the dimensions I came up with mathematically. It all looks good. Only thing is the port is 2” from the top of the cab inside. I think it will be ok.

I have some old speakers in my basement for my workout area now that are running in stereo. Made me think something in the 893 size might be a nice upgrade at some point. Are you going to run surround sound or just in stereo in your living room setup? I don't have a sub output in this area. Is there a way to do the sub + 893 setup you're planning with an active plate amp or something?

TV: Panasonic 60" VT60 Plasma Surround: Yamaha RXA3050 5.1.2 Definitive Technology BP7006 (front), DefTech studio 350's (rear), Def Tech Di6.5r (ceiling) Players: Raspberry Pi running OpenElec/Kodi, Roku, Sony Blu-ray Control: Control4, whole house automation

I’m doing surround sound. With two subs. And the 893 LCR. There’s rears in place already, but those will be upgraded. There is a way to do the sub without a sub output. I do it in my basement zone 2. Full range signal in stereo to my sub line level inputs. Then from there to the L and R speakers.
