My 2 pair of HTM-8’s build

Ugh

Fixing my 1st pair, removing the port blackout, first one woofer came out easily. Second one it was sticking to the foam seal so I tipped , shook and the woofer fell onto my finger. Yea, I was asking for it.

I’ve heard about the vacuum method for dust caps

A slight crinkle remains, if I don’t tell people no one would notice it.
My lesson learned.

Yeah, considering the texture and color, it's all good. Amazing how the vac worked so well!

If you have to vacuum one again hold your fingers between the cap and the vacuum to soften it. Speakers look great!

I tested them with my wife gone at 0db MV on some music in stereo mode.
Plays very loud and clear, distortion free .

Not really done critical listening in a sit down per say, rather they are being used daily.

listening in the family room, they blend perfectly with the fusion8 horizontal center for everything.

At the gtg will do more critical listening and gather consensus.
Will honor Erich request.

My 2 pair of HTM-8’s build

Via my Denon 4300H, this is what Audyssey set for my xover's a few days back:

In my family room I get 40hz on my fusion8’s (center), 80hz on my HTM-8’s (front R/L), 120hz on my HTM-6’s (surrounds) and 120hz on my sealed volt-8’s (Top Mids)

>>Yes, this is after I did remove the black grill cloth material from the HTM-8's & HTM-6's

HTM-8 as Front L

HTM-8 as Front R

My Fusion-8 MTM R / L I typically get a 40hz xover via Audyssey, I set all 3 front soundstage to 60hz as that just sounded "right" to my ears blending to the subwoofer.

From the specs, I was expecting 60hz for the HTM-8's and 100hz on both the HTM-6's / Volt-8's.

I've not truly played with audyssey and found that "sweet spot" 1st/2nd/3rd mic position where I'm outta nulls.

Not losing any sleep on this for now, may try different mic positions this weekend.

I’m surprised you didn’t get a 60 Hz crossover from the HTM-8’s as well. Audysey seems to usually be pretty generous on the low end extension for speakers....always sets my 6.5” Hsu bookshelves to 40 Hz.

Well, his HTMs are new and they may loosen up a bit, but keep in mind the fusion 8 center has double the area for the low frequency driver as compared to the HTM 8. This is the reason I choose the cinema 8s myself -- I figured they'd integrate with the subs a bit better.
