updates:
Mahuzz13 ; can't join due to conflict now

We can split up compare into 2 zones, now 3 zones adding basement bedroom via Denon 4308CI.
The F8 MTM are wall mounted, so putting compare one's next to them on barstool "works", in family room

Family room set-up;
Denon 4300H 5.1.2, 55" OLED B8
Front Right / Left Fusion-8 / Cinema-8 MTM's, Front Center Fusion-8 MTM, Side surrounds HTM-6, Top Mids Volt-8.

Can also use the basement HT for compare area.
Basement HT setup;
Denon 8500H 7.2.6 / 9.2.4, 130" scope screen, RS400
Speakers: Base layer 7: 2008 Paradigm Monitor 9's R/L, CC-390, surrounds Paradigm ADP-390 side & rear surrounds.
Atmos layer: Front Height: Paradigm Mini-Monitors, Front Wides: Paradigm Mini-Monitors , Top Mids and Rear HeightsVolt-10's

I'd like to use this as a HTM-8 front 3 soundstage compare to existing Paradigm Monitor 9's / CC-390, plus HTM-8 compare as side surround to Paradigm ADP-390

Reserve 1 for other info.

Food;
Mike will provide Pizza, salad, bread sticks, bottled water, paper plates / cups / utensils
If your b-day is January thru June ... bring a bev to share
If your b-day is July thru Dec ... bring a light snack to share

List of diy speakers being brought:
Mike - has HTM-8's & 6's, Volt-10's, Fusion-8 TM and MTM (including center channel)
Jared - bringing HTM-6's and 893's
JC -bringing HTM-12's and Volt-6's
Brian - bringing Helix Dome MT's, HT-8's
Scott - bringing HTM-10’s
Bob - bringing Fusion 12's

Demo method/material:
Jared has Dolby Atmos demo disc, Mike has Auro3D demo disc (8500H can play if back) and Blu-ray AVS scuba steve demo disc.
If you have some good demo disc/scene bring that and we can also play it, after all it's everyones gtg!

Media Players are as follows
1st floor family room:
My Xbox 1s for CD's/Blu-Ray/UHDBR, Denon 4300H for USB flash drive

Basement HT:
My Xbox 1x for CD's/Blu-Ray/UHDBR, Denon 8500H for USB flash drive

2-ch basement room:
Scott will bring his laptop and music collection to plug into the Denon 4308CI in there

My speaker cables are on banana plugs, easy to swap if yours accepts them.
Brian is bringing a few extra speaker stands.

The basement HT will be the Home Theater mindset comparisons.
HTM-6/8/10/12, HT-8, Volt-6's, other.
Front soundstage the HTM 8/10/12 comparisons
Surrounds HT-8/HTM-6/Volt-6's - compare to adaptive dipoles for impressiveness.

The Family room will be the Fusion 8 MTM vs 893 vs Helix Dome vs "other" comparisons

The basement bedroom will be the 2-ch comparisons;
Fusion-8 vs Fusion-12 vs Paradigm Mini-monitors vs ?
(anyone have a "spare" small sub, say a 10" or 12" with plate amp, or those will be only the speaker itself)

The basement bedroom is separated from the Home Theater so with it's door closed it will be ok for listening.
The family room is directly above the HT so we may have top temper the spl of both at times ...

Brian has a good 1-page subjective sheet for people to use, pass that out to attendees and ask them to self score.
Then, we will have a easel with a big sheet on it to gather overall impressions, etc.
>>Keeping it all fun, yet gathering subjective data consensus

REW ??
Jared has two laptops loaded with rew and two mics that we could use to measure speakers ... do we want to do that?
I'm open to what the group wants to do ...

People bringing speakers will come over 1+ hour "early", then we can do pre-gtg calibrations and save each to smartphone/ipad.
If we swap speakers on the fly, which will happen, the speaker distances will be in each AVR, key is setting spl "same" at consistent mlp for comparisons to have meaning.

Possible For sale speakers:
(no pricing in this thread, keep to PM's or gtg discussions)
Bob's Fusion 12's?
Mike's rear Volt-10's
Maybe Mike's Fusion-8 TM's

I wish I could make the trip back down for this one. I'd be particularly interested in your theatre room comparison because I'm currently running Paradigm Monitor 7s in the living room with a CC-370, and have built a set of 3 HTM-12s for the theatre. My goal was to move to a speaker that handled dialogue exceptionally well for the dedicated room. Would love to hear your impressions after this is done. I have only done a quick temporary swap of the centre channel, but WOW did it make a difference! Clarity and volume were drastically increased in my limited testing.

Hope you guys have a blast!

Yes, please.

Especially now that I'm local. Wife and I were looking hard at houses/properties in that area.

I can bring a pair of my HTM-12s, as they are collecting dust otherwise. Same with my little Volt 6s.

Also have spare Crown 1500 and iNuke6000DSP if I go visit my storage unit beforehand. Something to consider if you need more POWA for demos and such.

I'm truly curious the full reference 0db volume sound of the HTM-8's at my MLP 1st row 10.5 feet, vs the Paradigm 9's.

Less fatigue? I rarely listen at 0db, typically we watch at -15db ...
Room is fully treated, not over treated.
I'll leave the eq switch in off position here.
The front soundstage is on Emotiva XPA-3, 200 watts each.

Via Matts post http://www.hificircuit.com/community...er-thread.609/
Achievable distance for reference level playback (105dB) at the listening position for the HTM series speakers.
HTM-6, 7-9' on AVR power, 12-15' with max rated amplifier power.
HTM-8, 9-12' on AVR power, 18-22' with max rated amplifier power.
HTM-10, 10-15' on AVR power, 20-25' with max rated amplifier power.
HTM-12, 12-18' on AVR power, 25-30' with max rated amplifier power.

Boy would i love to hear how those Helix's sound compared to others. I know they are not as efficient but looking for really good DIY SQ and considering them for purchase in the future. Wish I could go but on left coast so can't. Have fun and fill us all in! Thanks guys.

3 pair HT-6 for basement front / rear heights and front wides

If Erich is coming, I will be sure to make it. I owe him multiple drinks of his choice for dealing with my myriad questions.

Haven't seen the HTM-10s mentioned thus far. I could bring those if anyone is interested.

And would love to see Mike's place. Only things I've seen like the photos he's posted are in NW Michigan, not SE.

In short, I'm in if there's room.

Dibs on the Rec room? 9 ball and 301 double in and out are my favorite games, although I'm rusty on both.

4/13 SE Mich gtg ; F8 MTM, F8 TM, HTM-8, HTM-6, 893's, other..

As a 3rd room comparison space ...
4th unused bedroom in basement

I could make (4) 2” thick 2’x4’ panels and that become a stereo comparison room with my Denon 4308CI driving those ...

Edit - looking further at this

>> this 3rd room It's a 10.5 x 12.5 room, the bed is on wide side now ..
I'd actually re-do the furniture to be on the 10.5 width so seating is not on back of a wall, better listening symmetry, easier for acoustic panels, easy to do

So why can’t you make it, I have to pick up all my speaker flat packs so if you want to go for another ride I’ll be in if they will have me.
