Thanks for the update, I don’t want to overload him with emails as he’s probably swamped.

You're definitely at the top of the list of people on the forum desperately in need of a subwoofer upgrade.

I haven't decided yet, I keep telling myself I'll never use them fully. I expect once I get them and walk by them in their boxes for several weeks I'll come to my senses.

im working on building them still. the gsg devastators come in a ton of pieces. im on page 15 of 39 of the assembly directions. im not using any screws or brads on this build so its going a little slower with my schedule. I have to say that im loving the gsg flatpack so far though, its making this much easier for me with my lack of time. everything fits perfectly. im still on the hunt for a speakerpower amp but that wont stop me from firing them up, I have more than a couple to choose from.

That is point, The 4 HST should be plenty for well over reference listening, 130 dB of midbass would drive people out of my room and it has before. 130 dB at 5-10hz drives people upstairs to downstairs usually yelling.

Its not the reality we chase...its the possibility. No one seriously needs any of this stuff, but its the fun of pursuing another level that drives it. I'm usually good for 5 years between major upgrades and I'm finding most upgrades from where I'm at now yield pretty minimal gains for way too much money.

I agree, Most swapping is a lateral move with minimal differences here and there. It is fun trying different things.

Depends on what you're measuring. Upgrades might address different things. Moving my speakers behind baffle wall was a big project, actually decreased SQ a little, but jacked WAF up through the roof.

My mains are rear ported. Also my speakers have a rear reflecting speaker which I disconnected. It’s not an ideal placement for these speakers, but the intention is to replace them with DIYSG eventually.

I stopped chasing more after I got 4 TC 18's. I don't listen louder than I did with 4 15's but I respect the low distortion one achieves from the added headroom. I do find merit in staggered placement of multiple subs to even out room response but I wouldn't chase it for more SPL.

Once I tried higher end big excursion drivers I like them better than all those cheaper 18s I had. You need much less of them to reach the same goals.

It's a service hallway/mechanical room. I built a shelf for my AV equipment and discs. The furnace is also back there. Please disregard the spaghetti mess I'm in the process of rewiring currently.

The 12" powered sub is no longer there, that's where the PA460s in boxes are sitting right now. That is where the new VBSS's will sit.

Sorry if I'm derailing.

how is that space ventilated

those amps near the ceiling AND the edge make me nervous - LOL

maybe a 12' ft piece of closet maid ventilated shelving, cut to length, 16" depth

this is a 4'-ish x 20" piece for the 6K's

between that and the fans mods, good to go

The 10s still work, but it's obviously not as effective as it could be. I have the speakers crossed over at 80 Hz and the powered 10s are on the high level inputs, so they don't do much but act like woofers. I spent a lot of time tweaking them to where they sound good. They make up for the not-ideal situation by sounding really great.

I'm mostly using the 3-way uppers and the subs are kinda wasted. I plan to replace them with HT-12s next year, then these will likely go into a listening room configuration somewhere else in the house, once I can figure out a way to do that while maintaining WAF, or I might sell them to a buddy who needs these in his life.

I don't currently have anything in place for cooling, but also haven't had any problems with heat. Partly because this is in the basement and it stays high-60's year round. That being said, I plan to move the iNukes to a ventilated equipment rack this winter. Right now I only have the one and it doesn't get hot. Also the images might be a little misleading, there's a good 6" above the Denon, and 8"-10" above the iNuke.
