Eminence with a new high performance 21"?

https://data-bass.com/#/drivers/5cc9...3084?_k=30flrl

Curious to see how this handles in a big ported box. Anyone wanna run the numbers? I'm at work and can't.

If it’s really $1000, it better put up some good numbers. That’s iPal territory.

Hopefully they’ll make 21 inch grills too since nobody else wants to.

Oooooooo... was looking forward to this. Finally released. Would like to have seen higher compliance and a little lower fs, though.

Full Marty 11 cuft 17Hz 16Hz HFP 2nd order. Wow Edit: go down to this post, WinISD was not happy about a parameter when I reopened the sim - https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-d...l#post58027370

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

Looks like it is in direct competition to the 21IPAL. Specs are quite nice - even the Fs is great compared to the IPAL's 37Hz.

If it does retail for ~$1000 that is still $250-$300 less than the IPAL. Could be an IPAL killer!

If you still have that model saved, can you post the impedance curve and the apparent power curve? Too lazy to model right now.

Also, would knock that filter down to like 14 or 15hz and make it 4th order bw.

Color me impressed. That's some serious output, but of course, that's a serious price tag too.

I will grab the impedance chart tomorrow, no longer by that computer.

If you are tight on space for multiple boxes this is a nice option. The amp will get expensive on top of the entry tag of the driver. 2x 21DS115s are just 20% more expensive than this. I wonder what happens in a sub max?

This is good stuff. I’m interested in it for the 35-90 range. But yea the price tag is stupid high. 21DS115 still the better buy, IMHO

The price, for those looking for ‘theater LFE’ is same as an SI HS24. I’d say thats the comparison in terms of value. I regret not building a ported box for my 24s. I planned 4 sealed (2 dual cabs) in lieu of 2 massive ported. My cement clad room however, is not conducive to sub 18-20hz content anyway. When somebody finally builds a refrigerator with a port for that thing, its gonna be somethin.

Nice to see a US made product to compete with the Italian manufacturers.

It is squarely aimed at the Ipal and pro use not home audio of course. Not quite as efficient but the big seller for me is the nice easy 4 ohm impedance and its a US product from a company local to me.The impedance makes it so much easier to work with. I also like the slightly softer suspension for a lower Fs and the mirrored spiders.

It's expensive but anything that performs like this will be. Plenty of lower cost options out there. On that end of things the Lavoce 21 is looking mighty cost effective. More competition is always good.

Excursion is sitting right on xmax with the filter change. At 14 Hz even with a 4th order it finds a few more mm of excursion.

WinISD decided the driver no longer passes integrity check, though it did yesterday, but it looks fixed now. 3000 watts pushes it a little above 21mms of excursion now with a 3rd order HPF filter at 16Hz. As far as how big the port would be, probably in the ball park of 2.5 cuft and the 1st port resonance will get ugly and air velocity is going to suck Two 21DS115s make a lot more sense for ported boxes in HT use.

There was an expensive snag that should hopefully be rectified by the end of June according to the guys at Eminence that know these things. I'm guessing production quantities will start immediately after that.

Thanks. I've been sitting on a lot of stuff while trying to get the darn website updated the last couple years. Got drivers from back in 2016 and 2017 I never got a chance to get to. I'm trying to release a driver a day for a week. Eminence 21 was #3 .

The Lavoce 21 is a steal. The iPal DCR is just a head scratcher.

Port velocity some tweaking would be needed to do it justice. Fs and Qts look like a good match just peeking at the specs.

They only had 10 baskets. I got 2 so that leaves 8. Think Al said he was getting 2 more.

Besides me not sure how many out of the 10 were spoken for. They are built, hoped they were shipping yesterday but no joy

So when I simulated the SW152 verse this driver it looks to be almost identical response shape in 150L sealed. I just took the drivers to Xmax at 20hz. The Eminence has a bit more spl due to the higher Xmax. But you can push the SW152 a bit further than its Xmax also. And the Ipal and this Eminence 21 are about the same price for me here in OZ.
