stick on veneer?

Any recommendation for where to order the sticky veneer? A place with a bunch of options?

Rockler carry's 3M in a few types

i used the self stick white Oak , 12" x 10' , $50, for this creation,
stained with a let down red latex
highlighted in the grain with a black oil stain
and sprayed to be semi-gloss finish

not immediately noticeable but each piece (trys) to match a grain continuation, mol, to the piece on the opposite side of the driver . .
because

lots of masking and Fatmax razor knife blades, steel straight edges for getting that precisely sharp fit

i spent some time working with various paper printed grain patterns to "see" what might work

probably a bit more that most might envision

what type of experience do you have or want to try?

plenty of successful and more straight forward veneer jobs that are really really good work here in the DIY section

By no means am I a veneer expert, however I have had REALLY good success with wood glue and an iron. Basically roll on the glue to both the veneer and the work piece, let it dry, place your veneer, and press it down with a hot iron. I like this because it lets you work and slide the veneer around without it sticking. stuff I have done seems pretty permanent as well, no signs of lifting.

Cool. Thanks guys.

I have never tried using veneer. I saw some neat, somewhat easier approaches, with painting everything but the front baffle a nice flat black, then applying a very dark veneer to the front baffle. The results looked really nice and looked to be a bit easier with only doing one face, albeit the rounded over part.

Veneer Factory outlet has the most from what I've seen.3M peel and stick can be added to most of their veneers.

Veneer Supplies.com has less peel and stick options but price and shipping are less depending on where you are located.

I was way freaked out to veneer and looked at any way possible to make it easier. Eventually I just bit the bullet and did the contact cement and wax paper method. It worked amazing and was super easy. You can check my MBM build thread to see it. Way easier than I thought it would be.

I would order from a place that has the option to add the 3M backing to veneer, this way you can make a choice after your first experience. Personally I love sticky back and think its worth the slight extra cost but there are some who love contact cement too. I don't hate contact cement, I just love how simplistic the 3M backing is.

I have bought it from amazon before with no issues. Just search for PSA veneer.
