Question Where in the world can I get some Elusive 1099's?

I have been lurking on this DIY forum for quite some time and I have really wanted to build a set of Elusive-1099's, but they are TOO elusive apparently! DIYSG is sold out and have not returned any of my emails.

Does anyone know where I can get the components to build them, or if anyone is selling a pre-made set? I am even open to some HTM-12's, but those are all sold out too...

I am just hoping that you all know where I can get some.

Thanks in advance!

Read the ‘site updates’ section on diysg. Erich has taken a lot of kits out of stock just so he can get organized. They will be back soon. Just give him some time. The 1099’s will be worth the wait.

And me my HTM-8 for center duty, apparently @Jk7.2 grabbed the last pair for his latest build...

Built new TV/component stand and subs just to accommodate it, can't get my hands on one now. Woe is me...

But to the OP, the site should be updated in a couple/few weeks according to the site updates page.

Awesome. What is going to her your deciding factor between the two?

I am moving into a new house where the bonus room above the garage is 12W x 15L so I'm pretty happy with what i have to work with, space wise

I’ve owned all three. I can highly recommend each one. The dual woofer titan is what’s up.

Awesome!! 1099’s sound really good, a friend just built some a few months ago.

Depends on size. I will be working on a large speaker cabinet and i dont know exact dimensions yet.

I would go titans but it would be hard to figure out a center titan.

In your opinion, was there a significant difference between the 1099 and 1299?

If you are in the market for the 99’s, either will do. If you want a significant difference, step up to the titan.

I try to reply to most emails, so you might want to check your spam folder. I did have to help my dad package up things for his move to Florida last week, so I am behind a bit.

I've learned that there's no way one person can get this stuff better organized in a quick method. My goal was to make my packaging area bigger so I could package up kits in sets of 10 or something like that and remove some options that slow things down. Then before adding them back to the site, get more assembly pictures and explanations for each kit, hoping that would reduce emails.

But if I spent just 2-3 days on each kit it would take like 3-4 months to get them all back up. That likely can't happen unless 50% of the kits disappear, which no one wants. So I'm still deciding what to do.

There's a good chance the 1099 will be getting a compression driver change in the near future. The designer and I talked about it months ago and I'll be sending him 3 different models to see which he likes the best. I probably have enough compression drivers here for 30 or so kits, then the change over when the designer does his 1099 magic. Obviously the goal is to make sure they sound and test the same.

Charge a bit more before you get burnt out Erich.

It should reduce your work a bit without sacrificing your current income.

I have seen it waaaay too much in small but high workload operations, stress kills. Literally.
