Plywood alternatives

Trying a new Horn build and planned to use Aruco plywood except my Home Depot and all the ones within a reasonable driving distance decided to stop carrying the product.

Not a problem I thought I’ll just call all the local lumber places and see what they have. No Baltic birch or Aurcoply anywhere except one place. They want like $46 per 8x4 sheet of aurco and they are about a 45 minute drive for me. Quite the inconvenience to pay $10 per sheet more than I was before

Are there any alternatives that other have as much faith in that the two listed above that can be found at the big box stores? If it comes down to it I don’t mind buying the aurcoply but since I need 8-9 sheets it’s going to get quite expensive.

The Araucoply is no longer available here either. But Lowe's does have another brand of Radiata pine available:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/AC-Plus-23-...4-x-8/50100638

Can't speak to how it compares to Araucoply.

Sub builds: Yet another Infinity 1260 build | Twins! | Modified V.B.S.S. build | UM12-22 builds | AV stand and sealed UM18s

Speaker builds: DIYSG HTM-10 build | DIYSG Volt-6 build | DIYSG Fusion-8 builds

Man that actually reads as it is pretty quality stuff. Also not sold in my area though. Kinda crazy there is nothing around here.

The stores here have the birch plywood for $56. I don't see it getting any cheaper...

It's a shame if they drop it from inventory. I have two sheets in storage but I might go buy a few more just in case. Seven ply and virtually no voids, it's a great value.

Baltic birch plywood is a different, and better, animal than the 4x8 birch plywood at big box stores.

Lilmike had an OSB suggestion he uses for horns. Depending on how you want the finish to look, it might be an alternative.

I just recently finished an A/V stand and sealed subs using this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/3-4-in-Laua...X-4/1000068905.

Very happy with it, virtually void- and warp-free. Shame they don't offer it in anything but 2' x 4' locally, but may be available in larger sheets elsewhere?

That OSB looks promising. Tried to see if any box store around here carries it and it doesn’t. I actually ended up buying the Aruecoply from the place a little drive away. Figured I’ve tested it I know it well and just need to bite the bullet.

That stuff looks pretty also but yeah nothing over 2x4 here.

I’ve purchased the arauco plywood despite the price hike. I know it and I like it. I’ll leave this open for comments to help others if any other known plywood come available.

I'd check out the available OSB.

I once received sub drivers which were shipped attached to OSB boards, which I couldn't help but notice were very stiff, at least equal to plywood.
