Tapped horn or i.b. Garage audio

Im toying with a tapped horn idea for my garage. My garage is all drywall, i just installed a pulldown ladder to access the attic area. I can lay down a tall thin cab inbetween the trusses i have up there, or try an i.b. An i.b. Would be super simple, i can put a 15” in all four corners, or colocated..

My mains are little JBL 520’s, i measured a real nice 85-90db using my iphone db meter while listening to music, so 120db sub would be way over kill....

Thoughts

As of Feb 20th still looking for a Marantz SR7010

IB would be way more simple to integrate than a TH. wont need a minidsp or similar to tame the TH, unless you already have an inuke laying around. trade-off is going to be output. a single th with a half decent driver may approach output of 4 or 6 inexpensive IB drivers

If you go IB, go dual opposed to avoid the reactive motion imparted to the baffle.

I can’t really “recommend” but i am going to put four ceiling speakers in my garage myself pretty soon and I also will be needing a sub. I do like the idea of a manifold IB style over a box of any kind. I also won’t be needing huge amounts of bass so I’m thinking a smaller size (not 15”) speaker would be just fine. Maybe someone could direct us to a couple of cheeper 8”-10” (?) IB subs to do four manifolds, or just do two big manifolds on low/high power??

Do you think its worth building a little 8” sealed sub to find a location that energizes the room/garage the best ?????

If you're using the garage as a garage (large objects changing locations often and any kind of listening position) I'd go for maximum coverage and use multiple higher tuned THs. Maybe 4 of the Anarchy THs corner loaded, should be more than adequate for keeping up with the JBLs. That and the Anarchy horns are small enough to be constructed on the ground and brought up an attic ladder.

If you have doubts about output, grab 2 or 4 picowreckers with the Alpine drivers.

I almost did this but I backed out from fear of my neighbors hating me. Instead I retired the old F20 to the basement gym for some extreme workouts lol. My basement is almost completely under ground, I was surprised when I cranked it up and you can't hear it 10ft from the house! Also, it really loses it's presence when it's on concrete. I now understand people's complaints about basement theaters.
