Well, currently sitting as max bidder on 7 lots totaling 95 different amplifiers according to their listings.
I have estimated that shipping these to me in Canada would be around $1500 USD (not verified), but that would be like $300 per pallet and 5 pallets.
There's no import duty, so I would just pay GST, so I've estimated my landed cost at $4,000 CAD, which works out to about $45 CAD per unit. So, assuming that I can sell these net of shipping for $50 each, I can wiggle my way out of this disaster. I think I had just a half hour of thinking this was like Amazon, and clicking bid was like clicking "Add to Cart" and instead, pretty sure that was basically "BUY NOW". I don't think that if I end up as the max bidder I can get out of the process as the information says clicking "BID" was akin to signing a contract of sale.
So, I can do UPS for shipping, but my problem I can't solve is how to get everything on pallets and wrapped/plastic'd for hauling. Apparently the auction is "As-Is, Where-is" so the onus is on the purchaser to arrange all that.
Tomorrow I will phone UPS and see what their options are, but could really use someone with a commercial account with UPS as I think those would get way better freight rates, plus I've only been able to select from freight options that show 150 lbs as a maximum for a parcel. I think pallets would be the most efficient way, but I have no idea how freight works.
Fingers crossed all this worry is moot on Wednesday if people show up and bid on the items. But who can say. Hopefully my wife takes this well. We are in the middle of moving houses too, so this was really a lapse of any kind of critical thinking on my part.
Cheers to anyone who can offer some tips or recommend shipping services that would be reasonable. I wouldn't care if the pallets would take a month to reach me. I also think its a bit of a waste to ship to myself in Canada as in probably 50% or more of future sales, I'd be shipping back to the States (there's just more of you down there). But I don't have a way to keep the items in the states and test them to see if they work, or otherwise part them out (thinking chassis and transformers/toroidals would be able to get me $50 per unit or 25 for a chassis, 25 for a transformer/power supply section).
