I would keep the tune around 10Hz drop the volume and area first then start leaning on the port length untill acceptable curve and velocity are achieved. We only need to get up around where the Micro MBM can take over on the pass band

This is the way...

Love It..... just WAY too big for my place...... I have attached the 19Hz LFE chart..... not too far behind.... I'm rocking the 16Hz version.... Oh... it stomps the LFE @10Hz.... after that it's game on.....

That's slightly larger than two LFE.....

A friend is having a set of Helix MTs sent to my house for assembly and piano black finish. Once I knock that out I'll start on the Omega. @chadsmith013 has some work for me too. Living down the road from him is like taking candy from a baby.

We could get it into something manageable. I would do some digging on average room gain from 20Hz to 10Hz, it might be closer to a 9db boost, maybe a little more. If that be the case shrinking things is more of an option...

Gonna have port velocity go off the rails if it shrinks much more. Better off playing with crossovers to knock down the response and get port velocity back in check.

If only I had a spot for even one of them, lol. Or money for the HS24’s.

I guess I’ll just have to destroy my house more slowly with a v3 in the front and an Alpha in the rear.

I'm way late to the game as I've been, and still am, fighting my HOA over adding a workshop. Did you follow these cuts or did I read somewhere that you changed the port length?: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-d...l#post58074988

I have everything; two DS115s, NX6000D, two 24"x36" sheets of poly, etc to build twin clear fronts, just trying to decide which model to build once I get my HOA to F off.

Theater: JVC RS540U, 2.35:1 142" screen, Onkyo RZ1100, Panasonic UB820, Outlaw Audio M2200 Monoblock x3, Klipsch RF7II, RC64II, RS62II, 5800CII x4 Atmos, PSA V3611 Subwoofer x2.
2 Channel: Parasound P6, Parasound A23+, Rega Planar 6 with Ortofon 2M Bronze, Klispch La Scala II.

From the link you posted: “I am adding the 16Hz tune version because massive extension, just add 12.75" to the port!”

The rest of the cutlist remains the same. You can make the extended port-board one piece, or add in a removable extension to have both tune options.

Juju @jujuman200 added in the extension later. I don’t think he’s ever going to switch it back though.

@a77cj7

You would be correct sir..... not switching back. You do lose a touch of the top end with the lower tune BUT the sound is SO MUCH FATTER that I think that it is well worth it. I also have a Mini and two VBSS 31hz [bass section of my mains] to give me plenty of midbass. I only notice the lower top end output if I play the LFE alone which I have no reason to ever do. Therefore, the 2-3Db loss is not noticeable at all.

@Kothoga

IF you have the space.... go for the 16Hz tune.... you won't regret it.... BUT you will have to get used to their super clean tone.

I would like this as well. Is this for a 18” or 15” drivers? I have a Dayton Audio TIT400C-4 15'' Titanic Mk III Subwoofer 4 Ohm
I’d like to build a box that I could lay on it’s side and use it as a stand for my tv and audio gear. I also have two Dayton 12” HO sub drivers

First, you need to decide which Devastator variant you want.
I modeled the titanic in three variants last time you asked. Up to you which best meets your needs and space requirements.
Any of them can be run on their sides.

Once you decide which variant you want to build, John can send you the CAD file so you can convert dimensions to metric.

Gee, I am so bored I think I will just put four sheets of wood in a square put a top and a bottom on it and throw in a speaker somewhere..... ya that sounds cool.

edit: I guess I should clarify.

You all make it look so easy (we know it is not) and now you came up with something bigger than a refrigerator LITERALLY.

Sounds like quite a few “installs” I remember from high school. Bonus points for freehand cutting and copious leaks.

I’m sorry that I’ve asked many times, I have some health issues and my meds make me forget what’s up , lol
It’s all in me
I’m basically open the options I just want something that I can use this 15 inch driver to get down at least 17 hurts I don’t need to go crazy low and I’d like it to be something large so I could put my center channel on TV on it and some of my Audio Gear I have as much as 20 feet wide that I can go with it and his highest three or 4 feet in three or 4 feet deep so my options are really open on that I’m just looking for a good sound quality and efficiency I don’t want to have to use a 2-3- 4000 W amp for it and I do t need to break the windows in my house. My tv room is 20’ by 36’ and opens up to my kitchen and a hallway to the front door
I want to get this unit out of my setup. See pic, the other pics show the room empty, and shows how it goes into the breakfast room with the little flower planter divider wall and then it opens up into the kitchen off to the side and then has French doors on one side leading out to the Florida room
I have the option to use two different center speakers, a large horn type Yamaha or the 1of 200 made svsound center speaker
I need to get my Klipsch H1’s out of that tv unit shelves, it’s killing the sound. And I want to remove the svs and Klipsch subs that are on the right and left sides

The titanic is not an ideal driver for Devastator usage. It gets peaky on the top end.

That said, @jujuman200 uses a Dayton HO in a mini dev, and is quite happy with it. It also has a peaky response.

Titanic 15 in micro dev FR:
36h x 18w x 24d

Mini dev v2:
40h x 25.5w x 24d

Mini dev 21 HCR:
40h x 30w x 26d.

I remember the micro port velocity being high, and the mini being very high. The mini 21 was much more reasonable.

The mini21 rear chamber models a bit oversize, so it might model nicely with a lower tune by plugging one port. Port velocity will increase though. I can try it tonight if you’d like.

edit: I guess I should clarify.

You all make it look so easy (we know it is not) and now you came up with something bigger than a refrigerator LITERALLY.

Lol, the Omega LLT was kind of a joke between John and I. I never expected it to be built, was just proving a point.

John claimed the drivers lost too much efficiency at very low tunes.
I bet the HS24 wouldn’t given enough volume.
John told me to prove it.
I modded the Omega design for volume, and simmed it in hr.
Then we went back and forth with refinements.

The hard work was already done, since John has the omega design nicely finished.
I just extended the back of the cab, and adjusted port area as needed. Bit of napkin math for volume and good to go.

[snip]......

As @a77cj7 stated, yes I am quite happy with the HO in my Mini. The KEY POINT is that since the driver is so peaky, you MUST chop off that mountain at about 60Hz -ish so that it doesn't start to muck up the midbass. Not that it sounds horrid or anything like that but you must really dial this beast in for your room. Each room is different so take the time to find your happy place...

**IT WILL BE A PITA.... PERIOD FULL STOP. BUT, when you get it right.... man is it right.**

Hope this helps...
