Is that the NSW in the submax? Do you have any other 21s? I don't believe that hump on the low end was there with other drivers. Not a bad problem to have some extra 20hz output.

Did you change the LFE low pass in the AVR to 250hz? If you leave it at 120hz it will cut off the top end quite a bit on your measurements.

Yes, also a NSW in v3.

No, I don’t own any other 21’s.

AVR was completely bypassed for close-mic, running soundcard direct to minidsp. Only filter on was hpf, which was also included in model.

Thanks!

I agree the quad dev would look awesome. Just the baffle was crazy enough.

The lexan would cost as much as all 4 drivers though.

That Submax is awesome! The pressure that must create right at the mouth could probably mess up your heartbeat. I had a THT with only a 12" and right at the mouth it was intense, and that's a toy compared the the max.

Sorry, I know this is a devastator thread. Those are cool too.

Pretty sure he only has two. Ltd02 designed this for a quad setup that he never used, I used the design with my dual 15 inch f20’s (mini sub max) which is why I have a giant hole in my side wall..... that I’m replacing with my four dual JBL Devs.

I realized I made a mistake with the lexan facing the screen on v3 before I even fired it up. O well, a quick magnetic cover won’t be challenging.

To really make them shine, you should put some LED strips inside to light up the drivers

I’ve considered it several times. It would be awesome looking, but I’m not sure worth it to build. It may happen if I get caught up on other projects.

If that little glass panel on Max is causing trouble, how are those big panels on the two center subs doing with the projector?

Absolutely no issue, facing away from the screen. Completely dark during use.

The v3 panel facing toward the screen reflects quite well. A magnetic cloth cover will be the quick easy solution. Not the biggest mistake i’ve made.

You might be able to just use one of those static cling materials to cover it. It will peel and stick real easy. Like a fathead. Material is called B.O.P.P.

I was considering a film as well. It would need to be completely non-reflective, while still maintaining good clarity. I couldn’t find anything promising in half an hour of searching.

Wonder if something like this would work? HD has alot of different window films. It's cheap so if it doesn't work at least you're not out alot of money.

If you look at the before/after pics of anti-glare films, they are still very reflective. Just easier to see what’s behind them, usually for store windows. Sadly, no go here.

I considered a contoured/directional shade for the window, but will probably look clunky.

Not that big of a deal to pull a magnetic cover when I want to visually bask in the glory of the nsw, lol.

Behind the wall?

Yes, those are my two mini dev’s under the screen.

My other four subs are at/near floor level, so I planned to have v3 and Alpha top firing to go after vertical modes. Plus, this allows v3 to fire over my av rack. And it looks awesome that way IMO.

If someone need some very thick Lexan
It’s about 3/4 to 7/8” thick. I may have enough to do one or two of the windows , if someone could give me the dimensions of it I could show pictures of how thick this stuff is.
Its actually bullet proof glass from a bank tellers windows, and I’ve tested it with a 308 and 300wm rounds at 25 yards and the glass held up and the bullets only went about a 1/4” into the glass. So yes it will stand up to one or even two 21” drivers
If your able to mount it to the wood

Thats not lexan. Thats probably a glass/Lexan sandwich, plywood-ish. Lexan is awesome stuff, but will certainly not stop rifle rounds.

EDIT: could be straight acrylic or polycarbonate(lexan) apparently. Here’s an article on various types:
https://www.tssbulletproof.com/blog/...polycarbonate/

It would work great IF you can figure out how to cut/drill it.

Chris
