Your contribution is very much appreciated.
I hadn't even noticed that the dual is 0.5 inch narrower, I think the single driver Nano is best to start with when using the Kappalite driver.
Horn based subs are new to me, I made several ported ones which are quite easy. I thought getting the tuning higher will simply make the box smaller, but it seems things are more complicated there
Thanks!

2mm is .0787in, I am definitely not that close with any of my tools, you should be okay there.

Mark an X going straight through the center of your cutout. Then from the outside edge of the cutout mark 27mm or so on those lines, just so there is some space past the outside diameter of the sub. You can then tell if you are close to centered or not by how much space is open on each line inside the markings.

I know there are different 12" JBL models out there. The CX1200 is not available here, and the prices of all others are more or less the same.
It seems the JBL Stadium 1224 is the most powerful; which one has been used here?

It can be bought for half the price of the Eminence Kappalite 3012LF. The current Dual Nano gives already much more output:

Made some sawdust today for 2 Devastator Shallow w/ Pa460
I used Cutlist Optimizer to optimize the cutting patterns. It was a first for me. It's free and i found it easy to use.
It took 4 sheets of MDF for the 2 Devs. Thanks to @redfive for providing the cutlists to all of us.

The build will begin tomorrow

Have you peeked at the HR tutorial? You could sim the different woofers in the Dual 12"!

I did, 2 months ago I downloaded Hornresp. It seemed really hard for me but I'll give it a try again. For sure it looks much harder than Winisd.

Did this design ever get finalized? I was wondering what drivers you used for the sim. Also, would it be possible to have the box stand up and the ports fire out the front rather than up in the air?

Standing on its side they are front firing. I did not finish it up, I would recommended to smaller boxes before doing this. It is the SAN214.50.

I really appreciate, thank you so much. It's easy for me to input Thiele parameters, but TBH even with your excellent Hornresp manual (I tried it again) it's not easy for me, and I don't feel confident. Maybe I can use your hornresp file and change Thiele properties from the CS1214 to the JBL Stadium 1224, I suppose all other variables would remain the same.
I only noticed now that you based your design on dual CS1214's, which are almost the same price here as the more powerful Stadium 1224

The 2 JBL variants for sale here are the Stage 1210 (60 euro) and Stadium 1224 (99 euro). Their parameters: http://www.4me2.com/jbl/jbl12.jpg

Last question: why did you limit the Kappalite 3012LF to 200 watts? Port velocity? The SPL output looks nice, but it's not more than the CS1214 used in the Nano.

I forgot if you said you could fit the Dual, the Dual looks good with the Stadium. That is 500 watts going into them. Velocity should not be an issue for this case or the Kappalite.

Great! I'm surprised though your Nano dual with lower spec dual CS1214 delivers 3db more output at 30Hz (600W) than the $$ dual Stadium @500 W.

Here is the Stage woofers running 500 watts. Excursion is higher on this woofer, it should still do the job.

There there is also this with 500 watts. Velocity is 20m/s with this configuration. The parallel load would be easier on an amp, 5.4Ohms/2 vs closer to 4 Ohms/2.

Wow! Red Five, thank you so much, this makes my decision much easier. JBL Stage it will be. You seem to be confident it won't blow at 14mm displacement
I'll keep reading your many pages here and hope to make one in a few weeks.

If positive I will make shallow 21 dev's when my basement is ready. The only concern I have is can you put a Shallow 21" a few inches behind an AT screen, or would ported subs be better suited to prevent the screen moving.

There there is also this with 500 watts. Velocity is 20m/s with this configuration. The parallel load would be easier on an amp, 5.4Ohms/2 vs closer to 4 Ohms/2.

At almost double the price compared to JBL stage, it's not worth it. Thanks for showing!

The stage at 14mm will probably start sounding distorted, that would be there upper limit more than likely.

I just want to say I have no idea what any of this means, but I can still appreciate this kind of talk between people who obviously know their stuff.

Your best bet would be one of the BMD variants....

Oh cool, so i have two left and right speakers connected to the greeen audio output and i have the powered amplifier connected in the orange output, it works when i set it up and test it but not when running applications as i dont think they use more than just stereo sound, wondering how you've overcome this
