Help Me Identify the Mystery Subwoofers

So I saw a pair of 12s for sale locally pretty cheap and thought why not see what they are?

Seller didn't have any idea what they were, only that they were bought from Meniscus.

So, I sent these pics over to Meniscus and their response was: "I vaguely remember those woofers. I think they were from a surplus buy we made many years ago and we wouldn't have any data on them now."

Fun.

So, I told the seller I wasn't interested because I couldn't get TS on them. I threw out an offer of $20 in case they were going to toss them, and they bit. So, I couldn't pass up new 12s for $10 each, even if I have no idea what they are.

So, here's where you come in. Anyone recognize these? If they were a buyout maybe I can contact the manufacturer and maybe they'll have some clue. If not, perhaps they'd make good BOSS speakers. Or, maybe I'll try a small sealed box for them and see how they sound.

I have not yet tested impedance.

Looks like an OEM subwoofer. Does it say where it was made? If U.S.A., they may have come from the Gefco or Credence factories.

I have not been able to find any country of origin, or really any other markings stamped into the components. The only identifiers I have been able to find are the labels pictured, which I can only assume came from Meniscus.

There's a way to measure for T/S parameters buried somewhere in the forum. The price you paid for the woofers should make the cost of building the tester more attractive/reasonable.

That might be worth digging around for. Would love to be able to toss them in WINISD and at least get an idea of what kind of enclosures they'd be good for.

Meh, in the end you can always throw em in a sealed box and be done, the t/s would be for a ported design....

Yeah figured as much. That's probably what I'll end up doing. Would be nice to know the power handling numbers at least. I still haven't busted out the tester to check impedance.

The other option would be to use them for BOSS risers.
