You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

As for your choice of coatings, I think adding the "Ultradeep" Base should work great for not only the appearance, but it should also make for some better TR & increased "Base" response.

Enjoy your build, and I look forward to seeing the final results & impressions.

Great progress so far! Maybe this was already mentioned, but there's been so many devastator iterations, I can't keep track of them anymore. Is this for a PA460?

The index has been created for the many variants. The Mini is for 18"s, the PA460 does well in there. The sim is in the Mini post if I recall correctly. It is down around 8db vs a higher excursion higher power handling sub.

Some progress today. Hoping to get the side and bottom on the 1st Dev and the bottom port board on the 2nd Dev. Quiet mode has been a must during the time I could work today, so I limited as to what I can do without nails.

The wife has a heavy work week, so I will have to slow it down. The bottoms will have to get sanded down to be flush. I think the glue eats up some space during assembly. I cannot wait to fire these things up!

I told you to cut the side panels long

It will come together, no reason to push it too much. Life happens.

I am not too worried about it. 60 grit on the orbital will rip it down fairly quickly. We shall see how good the shop vac sucks it up and how well my redneck dust collector will work (a box fan that has a furnace filter attached to it).

Yeah, I run 120, not brave enough for coarser. I did consider hooking the vac up, but enjoy the cordless sander mobility too much. Dustpocalypse definitely resulted though.

My furnace filter on the furnace definitely thought it was a dust collector. Whole thing looked like it wanted to suck into the furnace.

I might end up going 80 grit, I will hit it with finer stuff once it gets torn down. I cannot get the dust in the basement like I did in the garage. I figure the vacuum hose will go in the left hand and sander in the right with the box fans negative side close by the work area. Once the worst of stuff is torn down it will be time for the cake batter primer

Yeah, I really wish my shop didn’t get so bad. In the house is way crazier.

I’d pull the dust collection bag off the sander and hook the vac to that. Probably your best chance of dust mitigation.

When I was running the table saw with vac setup, the dust that did escape was mostly the heavy, sweepable stuff. The light, floaty dust of doom ended up in the vac.

One more thought: If it makes sense for your workspace, maybe try sealing off part of the room with painters plastic. Keep the destruction contained if your dust collection fails.

No, but I give in easily to peer pressure for tool purchases.

Plus your description of your buddies jigsaw sounds annoyingly similar to fighting mine.

One dewalt 20v variable speed orbital jigsaw added to purchase list for submax build. At least that and the already purchased kreg jig should be the only new additions.

I would like to do that, but I need to finish them. I am thinking of skipping finishing the backs since they are hidden anyways or I'll just use some of my cheap black paint lol.

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

O sure, harass me for not trying mine out till they’re completely finished, and now you’re doing the same thing

Probably don’t need to spend much time and effort sanding and finishing the back and bottom, but I’d at least paint them. Then again, I tend to get pretty OCD with finishing.
