Getting pretty close to the dusty part.
Got any weekend plans?

Ran the whole JW2 catacombs scene. Gunshots are not mild, lol. Kinda hard to discern how much of the tr is the mini’s and how much is the BOSS. Which is awesome, exactly the desired effect.
The mini’s are clean too. The bass perception follows the surround sound, doesn’t stay centered on the front wall. I’m sure having the sealed 18’s behind MLP may help slightly, but they are way attenuated compared to the mini’s.
Didn’t notice the air movement so much, but the RP1 blast is just continuous lfe.

Just for comparison (and not cause I was having fun, of course ), ran JW1 club. I believe its overall a better bass demo with the music along with gunshots.
The gunshots are much lower level than the JW2 ones, but have way stronger subsonics comparatively. The BOSS was busy.
I kicked the mv up a few db just cause I can, and everything handled it well.

I’m smiling and my ears are teling me I might have had it a bit loud.

Not really, sounds like the in-laws will watch our daughter so I can pound through them and get them over with. Ideally assembly would finish Saturday maybe some sanding and then finishing Sunday. We shall see!

That's the best when you can have time all to your self building a box that's what slows me down all the time when I get pulled away every 15 mins.

If you do sand, you will want to use coarse discs, 120 would take all day.

Sorry about my poor timing.

I do have my black 50 grit. I usually do not use it on MDF because it melts it that fast. I am going to strip the panel down. I had to do that on the Stormbreaker box. The 2x4 bracing killed me on that one, not the MDF. The vac has kept the dust down, just the really heavy stuff does not get sucked up, which does not create the WAF disaster the light stuff does.

I’m just worried about the curve showing if you have the two boxes touching, or close to it. If they’re separated it shouldn’t be noticeable.

Glad the vac is working out. Pretty sure dust disaster inside might be more Wife Murder Factor than WAF.

I only got an hour or so to work on them today. Sealing the back requires a lot of PL3... Hopefully sanding does not chew out too much of the glue.

You are making great progress.... soon they go BOOM!!!

On a sidebar: one of my buddies offered to help with my build in exchange to be indoctrinated into the cult of the BASSHEADS. He wants to learn how to build his own boxes...he has built a few sealed in the past and wants to take it up a notch..... so class will be in session on the 29th!!

WINNING!!

Not initially, but using black electrical tape on the sander so the vacuum hose fit directly to the sander made it way way better.

Told ya you needed to hook it up directly
Lol

Glad to hear it worked out (and you’re not divorced)
I had to electrical tape my table saw hookup too, but due to cracked plastic

At least you’re almost through the dusty part. And should soon be to the noisy part

I was amused by the bracing design. ‘H’ for hatch, wouldn’t want to forget what that extra panel is for.

I got up at 5 this morning and put a second coat on the hatches and tops, so they can be moved into place after work Last pit fall is getting the wires terminated. I was at buddies on Friday and we were going to solder the wires to the ringlets, but he was out of solder and the solder we borrowed did not stick to the chopper wire. I am hoping to hit the hardware store and pick up crimp down ring terminals. The binding post are the heavy duty Daytons.

No, I really wanted it to, but it needs more space than the cabinet has available. The cabinet can be adjusted to be deeper and then it would work with some vent tweaking to deal with the added displacement, I would expect 4 to 6"s would cover it.

Which pretty much ends back at a devastator v1.

Almost, 17.7cuft vs 21.25cuft and the resonator will hit 100Hz well on most any pro 21" vs about 90Hz or a little less. It would be a very similar beast, but not quite the same thing.

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

You’re going to end up with a ridiculous number of dev variants at this rate. Which is completely awesome, right up till you design one that would be even better in my space than the mini.

If someone asks I will probably design it and then add it to the Index. Naming will change to DEV18-4025.530-20H-5.2F when it really gets out of hand. That would be for an 18" with the middle number being the box dimensions, the 20H designating the tune of the box and 5.2F being the rear chamber displacement.

I'm interested in the 40" height of the mini. Would be great for me if a design with the aforementioned height was available for a 21

I will add that to the design list, it should be a versatile box able to integrate with most anything
