Now that we’ve thrown this discussion all over the place...
You are probably better off using the LaVoce drivers with your amp. If you want to use the 21mini, You’re going to be port velocity limited by either driver, so might as well save some money.

This is the cut list for it. I will have to do some more screen grabs for the more formal post when I get to it. Edit: Fixed.

Interesting, first I’ve heard of a “HT” driver modeling well in a Dev. Most seem to be ridiculously peaky, though I guess the HO tends to act more like a PA driver.

I think the added mass of the HT driver is what is causing that spike. The Qts looks good on that sub, just a bit more weighty than a Pro sub. Port velocity might get very hot with the Fs around 19Hz.

Shouldn’t be any crazier than the 18ds fed adequately. The way cheaper and easier to drive aspects are nice though.

At that volume, I doubt you will hear a peep from this sub.... just bass...

On that sim what is the voltage and excursion? The bummer is the 460HO might run out of power handling before excursion unlike the Pro subs.

Here are the MAX spl charts for the SAF and 460HO....
They have about the same excursion at 13mm and 12.75mm respectively.... let me know what you think..

The SAF takes 3000 watts MAX Peak and the 460HO takes 1800 watts MAX peak..

Dayton does not have the winding height and gap depth for the RSS460HO out there at least not that I found. 2/3 gap on the SAF should be around 19.4mm. The HO has to be somewhere in that area.

Those are rated, though safer to stay toward RMS.

The question is how the drivers model with excursion at rated power.

For those concerned about the low end they have more meat than the 21DS115 Stormbreaker. I am pleased with that!
Edit: they have not been broken in get either.

18 or 19Hz a little lower than the Mini. I have a 17Hz 4th Order HPF so the sub can flap around more since 1000 watts to each is expected to each driver. It has good weight, ran 2049 in quiet mode, I know what to expect on that one.

Not sure how you can tell at quiet volumes. Sounds more like level is slightly higher to me.

Just by displacement, I would expect the pair of mini’s to have more low end though. (Math: Not even once!)

The mini’s might have a slight advantage up top as well

So when do ya get to go war mode?

During WAR MODE...please give me your impressions of the helicopter scene in Lone Survivor.... I know what that does to my place with Full Martys....Thanks

Two 18 ported is > 1 21 ported most likely lol. The bottom light on the Nuke was barely flickering, the 21 would need a bit more juice than that for the level I was at. Gain and trim I think are in the ballpark, but with two 2 year olds tearing it up only so much can happen down there....

The filters are on for the old sub on the AVR, so it is killing the mid bass in conjunction with the filters setup in the Nuke. I left the 21" alone when I set it up and the AVR trimmed the mid bass hotness. This round using the Nuke to trim the mid bass first. The AVR probably did other stuff, no one knows what it did on the FIR filters on top of the aforementioned stuff I did and I know the AVR did first time.

I do not have that movie in the collection. JW1, JW2, and 2049 are the ones I play with the most. I know what the 21" would do with them very well. War mode maybe this weekend, see if the two year old handles it We might watch the Toy Story 2 intro a few times...

Just a warning, bass scenes seem to be getting hotter, lol.

I had my setup tuned using JW1 and oblivion. Had run JW2 also, good to go.

Then ran RP1. Yeah, sealed HT-18’s attempting to melt down, hitting clip lights on mini’s. That was unexpected.
I’m currently rewiring for 2500w to each mini, see if the extra 3db helps. Only issue with phoenix amps and minidsp, wiring isn’t quick plug and play.

I’ll have to pick up 2049, haven’t seen that one yet.

At least mini dev’s should be more child-proof than stormbreaker.
