Dual Devastator micro build

On a side note, with my wife working from home, I can’t be too loud. So I’m watching movies with all subs off, except near field and buttkickers, and the devastator micros. It’s still very satisfying, without disturbing the fam. Too much.
Lol. So I still have 8 15’s going in my front wall, two 18’s nearfield, so I guess I’m not slacking too much.

Just stay tuned. If I need this cab gone, it may go for less then cost to build it
Btw, I’ve underestimated dust collection. I finally bought a shop vac large enough to hook up to the table saw. It was sweet.

I finished my 2 GSG Devs and got everything calibrated with my 4 Danley DTS10’s. These Devs are rocking man. I’d love to hear these NSW’s in the Alpha,

Or how about just turning your whole upstairs into an infinite baffle and put some 30" subs in your ceiling? Living space is overrated.

I'll keep watching the news...I can see the headline..."Local resident's home collapses due to bass overload...film at 11."

Jared, those two subs that are recessed, they are end firing full Marty's? I have an idea for a Devastator in that form factor end firing. The sub would be a vertically aligned, feature a shorter horn with the vent underneath that. Usually vents work out to be high 30"s or around 40", that would be perfect for the horn length.

This is the way...

Will it take, say, a nsw? Just in case he ends up having a couple extra after the alphas gets swapped into the front.

That is my thought lol. At a 19Hz tune I would say 2000 watts would be pretty easy. 2500 would probably push velocity up in the high 30s. It would be mid bass for days on this Dev, that is the thing BMDs are not as good at.

I got the place to myself for a bit tonight, I love those Minis this would be a slightly longer QW compared to them, but close.

This is the way...

Alphas plus 15mbm’s up front, and full range nsw dev’s in the back. Sounds terrible, lol.

Only downside I can see is losing the HST’s sound signature. Jared should be familiar with that change from the front swap.

Jared, you said you wanted to keep busy building things...

Yeah they have a 15hz tune I believe? I like these little guys. This spot is 4’ deep.
I do think I’d miss the hst’s being in the room. Plus I also still have the 2 ds4’s nearfield, so I have a good mix of midbass monsters and warmer subs.

What do you think I’m actually getting out of my amps? I have pushed the 20k’s to clipping. But do amps clip early if they can’t draw enough power from the wall to really reach max? Idk but I have the 120V amps on dedicated 30A circuits. So I wonder how those facts factor into what it would be considered I’m actually pushing to the drivers. And therefor how close my builds will perform to models.

Nooooooo! Must. Not. Spend. But seriously, I need to finish this bathroom in the basement first and then I can start working on my theater. I’d love to have those other 2 HSTs, but I may just have to settle on the 2 I have and then later build some Devs for the back of the room.

I’m not familiar with what the amp can actually do, but I doubt you’re significantly limited by wall current.

Here’s a capture of the power draw/thermal dissipation from my crown 4/1250’s. Double numbers for your amp would be a decent estimate.

Based on your assembly order, it is better to have the vent most closely meet spec vs taking material off the QW side. The QW on a Devastator is not the most insistent on precision... The bottom of a Devastator can become an active place for adjustments.

Edit: I find it funny the title for the thread is for Micros and now it is hosting a build of one of the largest variants lol.

This is the way...

Its apparently a rule with the Alpha that every build uses a different assembly order.

I’m following the original assembly order from the v1. That bottom panel is just floating there. Not attached. My next move will be baffle with the 5” rails. Then port bottom, port back, then bottom, other side, bracing and ya know.

Ahh, you’re just trying to confuse everyone. Congratulations, it worked.

I would suggest leaving the port back off till you put the second side on and add the bracing.

I believe he is doing one as a test and if he likes it enough build a second for the front of his room and then i believe @redfive is working on a end firing version for the back of the room.
