BOSS questions

Hey guys I’ve read through a couple threads on these and think I’m ready to build one but I want to make sure I’m clear on a couple things.

1. I need 2 or 3 subs(I see the JBL gx1200 used), an iNuke 3000 with DSP, cabling with XLR’s for one end, 3/4” ply, and spacers

2. Face subs down with spacers under ply and enjoy?

It seems super simple so I’m probably missing something. Thanks for helping an idiot like me.

BOSS questions

Here’s the master thread.

The Hideaway Theater

Sounds like you have it about right.

Definitely post your questions in the Hideaway theater thread. They are very helpful and responsive. For my BOSS build, I didn’t use XLR connections but just regular speaker wire, and also didn’t use an inuke with DSP, I just used two channels off my Outlaw 5000 amp and I was cooking with grease.

Xlr’s are the balanced input connectors, you’re thinking speakons.

Some form of dsp is necessary for BOSS, I use minidsp instead of the inuke dsp.

OP mentioned cabling with XLR’s on one end, so I was just saying I didn’t use them, and just used regular speaker wire (with quick connects).

I do not use any DSP with my BOSS build and it works just fine. I have LFE set to 80Hz and my amp provides about 60 watts per driver. I’m sure my setup would benefit from a DSP but it’s not mandatory as far as I can tell.

No, you don’t. Again, the xlr’s are input cable. I’m assuming you probably use rca’s instead.
I believe you use bare speaker wire for the output instead of speakon connectors though.

If you’re happy with it, thats all that matters. I do believe you would benefit greatly from dsp though.

I am pretty happy with it so far, but definitely see a mini DSP in my future. More focused on a screen upgrade at the moment though. One thing is for sure, and that is that a BOSS setup is mandatory if you like tactile bass!
