Well, I now understand why the SI24 sale is local pickup / delivery

I received my Stereo Integrity HST-18’s today. Seeing the size of the boxes, and then having to carry them across the driveway in the snow and into my shop, I can understand why they are avoiding shipping the 24’s.

These are the deepest, heaviest woofers I’ve ever handled.

Pointless thread, but I felt like sharing my amusement.

Lol. I put mine into the cabs with them up in the air and vertical. It was difficult. Your gonna love them. What cabs did you choose? Ported?

No, I decided to keep it simple and mild. So they’re going in submax v3’s.

Assuming I can actually make them fit, that is. Best I can tell from the drawings the woofer back chamber is 15.6” deep. Should leave them with 1” pole vent clearance, and I will have to smoosh the surround a bit to get them in place.

I should have gotten the panels cut and the layout drawing done today, but I got lazy and had a day of relaxation. Been tuning/playing with existing subs instead.

Well that will be a project for sure. 1st I’ve heard someone puts an hst18 into a V3.
Having helped move 4 of them (V3’s) into place, replace um18’s with B&C 21’s in 2 of them, and integrate 4 of them with devastators, I’m super interested in your results. Will you be starting a build thread for them? How many are you building?
(Sorry I’m not trying to brag, but I think few members have ever heard V3’s and I know even less have heard @hd0823 ‘s quad setup)

I’ve talked with John (Ltd02) quite a bit on these. The HST18 models much like the UM18 in v3, but should be a bit happier with 2500w thrown at it.

I spoke with @hd0823 as well, making sure there was no integration issues with devastators. He said they integrate perfectly, so no problem there.

I’ll be building two of them, it should be enough. (I hope, no room for more)

Yes, there will be a detailed build thread. I prefer to finish the build first, then post up a thread. Like I did on my mini devastators, keeps it well organized.

I’ll be taking a different route on the v3’s, they will be side exit, and have a lexan hatch panel to see the driver.

I’ve been putting off the build, since I didn’t have my HST’s yet and wasn’t sure when an amp would pop up in my price range. The HST’s showed up today, and the amp will be here Wednesday, so I’m out of excuses.

Absolute worst case, If I can’t fit the HST’s, I’ll build them sealed, and run FI HT-3’s in the v3’s.

I’m sure hd0823’s setup is wild to experience. I’m hoping for 1/2 to 2/3 of that firepower.

If they model closely, why not just use the um’s? I’m glad you went with the hst’s. I’m sure it will be crazy. I just hope also worth the increase in price. But like you said, worst case you can always use the hst’s in other cabs. They are fantastic drivers. I have sent my 2 20k clone amps into clipping on every channel and never heard one sound of protest from the hst drivers.

Because throwing 2500w at a UM18 probably is going to end up with the magic smoke escaping, lol. Its like the old quiznos commercials, “Because there’s more than one way to toast a sub”
Plus the cone excursion is slightly over 30mm, asking a lot from a UM. Can set the hpf a few hz lower with the HST.

Glad to hear it on the hst’s, wish I could say the same for my HT18’s. Was tuning at full tilt demo today, and slipped with the output slider on minidsp. I’m really surprising they survived, those were not good noises. Amp was chugging along safely under clip, lol.

I like subs I can’t damage within reason, as the 18ds115’s in the mini dev’s are.

Good luck on the build. I can't wait to see this come together. As for the Hs-24 they are just Massive. The shipping box is like 29" x 29" x 21" and weighs 145#. I took mine to a friend that owns a car audio shop and all he could do was laugh. He had never seen anything like it. So yes direct pick up makes sense unfortunately.

How large is your space? You might not be pushing either the Devastators or the v3s much at all. That is a lot of firepower

Stormbreaker | WI HT Meet Thread | The Devastator Index | Mini Devastator Build
You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).
7.2.4 | A3070 | XLS 1502 | 3000DSP | 2x Aphex 124A | 2x Bic EV15 | 7x Bic FH6 LCR | 2x Bic FH65-B | Epson 5010e | 120" DIY AT Screen | 2x Mini Devastators

16x22. But open to a couple additional rooms and a flight of stairs.

Headroom is good, just hoping the drywall survives.

10300w and 12 cones is normal LFE channel, right?

Edit: after tweaking gain structure further, was red lighting the mini dev’s slightly on RP1 race scene. I assume submax may bring em back in, otherwise I’m gonna need a 3rd 4/1250. I know the 18ds115’s would be happy on 2500w each, but I would have to run another 20a circuit.

Haha, you are insane (in a good way). Do you listen at reference? How hot do you run the LFE? A house curve also?

What does that 21" weigh?

At or near reference , my receiver has a 0-100 volume scale, and the test tones aren’t the normal 75 or 85db. So I’m not 100 percent sure. I’ve shut subs off, and checked levels with loud movie scenes, hitting low 100 - 105 on dynamic peaks. I’ll call it reference until I give in and pick up a new preamp.

10db hot roughly. I don’t have the headroom for final settings or house curve at the moment. Hopefully submax’s fix that.

The driver is “only” an 18. Nick said they weigh 85lbs.

It's hard to picture just how big they are until you see them in person.

Then after you live with them for while they become the new normal, and everything else just seems small.

Man you can get pretty standard subs to do 105dB peaks, you should have LOTS of headroom with that monster. I would recommend calibrating your system using Audyssey or whatever you have to get some kind of idea what you are really aiming for. Most receivers default to the 0-100 volume scale, but you can change it to the reference type scale in settings.

If only it were that simple. Lol. Thats 105db on mains, not subs. Lets just assume it is right on 105db peak, true reference level.
Considering I’m crossing mains to subs, thats 122db peaks on sub. Plus 10db hot = 132db. That takes a bit more firepower. My sealed 18’s tap out and hide, and its even pushing the mini devs hard with a generally flat eq. I might even run quite a bit hotter with house curve.
Submax’s should change the game, two of em should be safely over 130db 20hz at mlp before room gain.

My receiver does technically have correction of some sort, but reviews say not worth it. I’ve never set it up, and have no idea where the mic is. Emotiva Fusion 8100, btw.

I will switch to a good preamp, but not in the cards this year. My subwoofer insanity has cost way too much.
I was planning on an Anthem avm60 with ARC, but the new Emotiva XMC-2 with Dirac Live is looking really good.

Whelp, I messed up on this one. Got the Submax layout drawn up, and theres no way the HST is gonna fit.

O well, its only money, right?

Now I’m thinking I’ll put the HST’s in 6cf sealed.

Then pick up a pair of NSW’s or HT3’s for the submax.

I’ve got till friday to figure it out I guess, yay sales.

Well yeah. Definitely performance-wise.

Just a cost-benefit comparison though.

Im sure FI will do a 20% off, so $800.
Not sure there will be a deal on NSW’s, so $1500

Either way, I’ll need another amp eventually, so another $1000.

I love this hobby.

Just a cost-benefit comparison though.

Im sure FI will do a 20% off, so $800.
Not sure there will be a deal on NSW’s, so $1500

Either way, I’ll need another amp eventually, so another $1000.

I love this hobby.

Sorry last message was actually me got a new phone and been having issues getting tapatalk and avs forum to work well together. I agree half the cost sounds much better.

Lol, figured it was you.

Sadly, I’m kinda leaning toward the NSW’s as well.

I am attempting to do some modeling in horn resp, pretty sure I’m not getting it quite right.

Anyways, looks like the HT3 may be exceeding excursion limits with 2500w.
Plus the NSW has the same capability on the low end with a significantly improved upper end.

Still, the cost is a convincing argument the other way.

How high are you crossing yours?

Yeah I was debating switching to the NSW6021 from the bc21ds115 would be like a 2 to 3 db gain down low but not sure if it would be worth the trouble and money. I have so much headroom right now that I could just eq the extra bump down low and be the same. Man once you build these your going to want to do the 4 with the 2 devastors is a ridiculous combo. It literally makes the siding on my house bounce and to think I'm probally running less than half power. @Jk7.2 is going to come down one weekend for a movie marathon and tweak it. I get lost when it comes to eq. It allready sounds great with what he did but he didnt have to change anything and theres no bumps in the low end. From what I remember we did tame the mids a tad. Still a tad mid heavy

Dude, you’re running 6 21” pro drivers in horns. A tad mid heavy might be a slight understatement.

No way I can fit 4, 2 should be tolerable though.
Plus the sealed HST’s and BOSS for low end.

Having 21ds’ as spare drivers... must be rough

Aren’t they almost impossible to blow with clean power?
