@Red Five
Ok RF;
the moment that you have been waiting for......
I setup the system to play PINK NOISE at 75Db....close mic is about 1 foot from the mouth of the Mini then I shut off all the speakers except the subs.

The first sweep I did was withe the iNuke 3k reset to factory spec out of the box..... no HPF, NO EQ. Just the initial setting which is the PLAIN.jpg which is the maroon one. This is just the MINI 460HO and nothing else.

Second is the settings I use for the Mini, which is the green one... this is also just the Mini. The file name is Plain + Dev-1.jpg

The last one is all the subs measured from MLP.... same volume which is the blue one. That response is no where near flat..... but I'm also NOT trying to be flat... I think that ruler flat response sounds too dry and lifeless for me.....YMMV...

I also have a funky room to work with.... the main part is 17 X 21... the middle of the right wall facing the screen opens to a 7 foot wide hall way that is 8 feet long and turn to the right and becomes a 4 foot wide hall to the rest of the apt. I would say that right now I have about 35% of the walls/ceiling treated with Diff/Ab.... soon to add more.

Despite the looks of the charts, It sounds great in here and the 460HO in a Mini works well..... some of the best sounding speakers measure like a$$ so there's that....

UPDATE::

Looks like this build will be stopping at 2 Devs for right now... the LFE and a Mini w/460HO. I took the second LaVoce 21" and retrofitted one of my Full Marty boxes.... so now I have an 18" Full Marty & a 21" Full Marty. They play really nicely with the Devs in my space. Since they are all tuned in the 17-20 Hz range, the integration was fairly straight forward.

In my experimentation, I have found the Devs to be a little too laid back from a tone perspective for the genres of music that I like.... but for movies, the Devs ROCK. They hit those low notes with ultra clean authority. I managed to find an AWESOME medium ground with the ported/Dev combo in my space.....

I would NOT hesitate to build the Devs again, they are great sounding boxes that will bring a smile to your face every time you fire them up.....

BOSS Platform

Hello All;
I have started and finished my BOSS platform and I can say that the hype is REAL..... they feel very natural when used with your far field subs [all of mine are far field]. They give a nice addition to the impact of the bass without feeling gimmicky or mechanical. I used one sheet of 3/4 ply but I doubled up on the front and rear edges to give the platform more rigidity. USE the isolators that are recommended in the thread.... you will be glad you did. I'm very happy that I built them and recommend that you do as well.....

You can always turn it down, but you can only turn it up so much (before you run out of power, excursion or structural integrity).

Yep. BOSS is not joke. Also, I have used them with devs only 60" away from MLP and they still work amazing. I run them with CO @20hz LR24. You can even go up to 25Hz but no more. Also have a LowShelf 10dB at 20Hz with Q=1. Gain you can set to your liking. With this setting, BOSS brings very nice wobbly effect. Anything above 25-30Hz and it becomes too much. One of the best scene I can recommend you to try out BOSS is from Tron the motor bike scene. This whole scene has tons of low bass and you should get wobbly effects from BOSS (not shaky). Too much shake will take away the bass sound as well because you'll be shaking so much that you won't hear as much bass. One way to test is to first play without BOSS and then with BOSS and then again without BOSS to see if BOSS shake is taking any hearing away. Having low CO like around 20-25Hz brings tons of wobbles without taking the bass sound away. Good luck.

Center Channel & DIY RPG BAD PANELS

So the quest continues.....
I recently finished my center channel which is 2way in a 1 cuft box tuned to 50Hz. Since I changed out one of the midbass for the Faitals, the midrange just opened up and is much more crisp and clear. The Peerless[buyout sale] and the Faital are wired in series and sound awesome in this configuration.

NEXT::
I just took on a project of INSANITY..... DIY RPG BAD Panels.....a hole drilling bonanza.....
If you have a drilling fetish..... this is the project for you. The 48x60 panel has well over 2K holes
I manages to drill 1- 48x60 and 2- 30x30 panels in 3 days...basically it took 3 days to do the 48x60 as I had the panels stacked to drill multiple panels at once. I have one more big panel to drill out for the rear of the room.... I MAY start that next week. Frame construction for the current panels will begin tomorrow...

UPDATE::
Here is the first 30x30 panel almost complete... just need to paint the trim..... It is filled with 4" of ROXUL Safe 'N' Sound edge to edge. I still have not decided if I want to cover the screw heads or not......

UPDATE::
All the panels are finished... it was a labor of love but they add a great dimension to my space... it opens up the space and it sounds like a MUCH bigger room.... WELL worth the effort.

Onward....

Juju, the panel looks great! That is a ton of drilling. I've contemplated these but every time I read how long the drilling actually takes, I get scared off again. Lol.

But the Important thing... How does it SOUND?

@OJ Bartley
Hey OJ;
YES the panels are a PITA to build.... the 48X60 took me 3 days with over 2K holes.... yes on the first day you will have to soak your wrist in a warm salt bath....

BUT..... the way it opens up the space and makes the midrange and upper end come into focus makes it well worth the effort. The sound is to kill for....NOW I understand why they are so expensive and popular....

OJ..... DO IT!!

I don't know anyone who has built / purchased them that doesn't like their results....
As with anything YMMV... but I'm pretty sure that these are a solid winner....

I got them printed here https://blueprintsprinting.com/ FULL SIZE for a reasonable price.... use PLAIN PAPER....Just upload the file as is and you will be fine.... FYI.... the dots WILL be larger than 1/2" on the print but when you use a 1/2" drill bit placed on the crosshair it comes out correctly....

P.S I also added the plans for the diffusor you see to the right at the first reflection point.... those are an easy-peasy build.....hope that helps.

The black BAD panels 30x30 are behind my mains on the screen wall.....
