What’s with all these VS threads??

The whole point of DIY is to equal or out perform name brands. If you want to go DIY - then do. Be happy with it. If you want to spend more money for a name brand. Fine, do it. But I promise you no one here has compared the two. So...it’s a literal shot in the dark.

Personally, I’d build Volt 8s or 10s for what ML costs and be done with it.

If this is to match a set of ML mains, and they fit into your budget, maybe it makes sense to keep it in the family. If you're looking for a great performer at a significantly lower price, then any of the DIYSG models would be worth considering. But basically to get any kind of helpful advice you will need to post more information. Not a big deal, but the differences matter. Post the rest of your equipment, tell us about the room, what are your listening habits, etc. That should get you some better answers.
