I don't know if you can understand just how excited I am right now!!
After litteraly years of reading everything I could on this forum and many other sources (Thanks a lot Jiles!), I'm finally nearly done finishing my basement and creating an hybrid home theater / family room (16 x 21 x 8). Now, I know what you're thinking, a family room isn't a home theater. Well, you're right but it was that or nothing at all (some of you know what I mean!).
The basement is still a complete mess but I'll add pics in a short while.
Just placed an order for 2x 21" Roundover Series Full Martys by GSG and 2x 21" LaVoce SAN214.50 Professionnal Drivers.
I'm really looking forward to building those beasts! This will be my first audio DIY project.
Lets just hope the shipping and delivery will go smootly with the COVID-19 and all...
Now, I have to start planning the building process and buy the paint and everything the GSG Team included on their shopping checklist.
By the way, Kevin's help was invaluable. The newbie that I am just might have ordered the wrong drivers if it wasn't from him. Can't recommend GSG enough.
I'll add videos and pics of the build. If I can do it, anybody can, trust me!
1. Install furniture, drapes and suspended ceiling tiles.
2. Complete shopping and prepare for the subwoofer build.
3. Receive and build my DIY subwoofers
4. Gear is in boxes for now, so install everything.
5. Build and add accoustic dampening panels
6. Learn and use DSP to create an immersive theater
7. Enjoy life?
I got carried over and order some of the biggest subs GSG is offering : The Roundover 21" Full Marty. They are really beautiful, but even with everything I had planned, I wasn't completely ready for how large those things really are...
As you can see, my Center channel is hiding the projection screen. I had to find a solution!
I decided on temporarely placing the front sub slightly to the left and the center channel to the right.
I also ordered a stand that should be delivered by the end of the week. For now, that is what it looks like :
