Arrow My 2x GSG 21" Roundover Full Martys Build!

Hey guys,
I don't know if you can understand just how excited I am right now!!
After litteraly years of reading everything I could on this forum and many other sources (Thanks a lot Jiles!), I'm finally nearly done finishing my basement and creating an hybrid home theater / family room (16 x 21 x 8). Now, I know what you're thinking, a family room isn't a home theater. Well, you're right but it was that or nothing at all (some of you know what I mean!).

The basement is still a complete mess but I'll add pics in a short while.

LATEST ADDITIONS:

Just placed an order for 2x 21" Roundover Series Full Martys by GSG and 2x 21" LaVoce SAN214.50 Professionnal Drivers.
I'm really looking forward to building those beasts! This will be my first audio DIY project.

Lets just hope the shipping and delivery will go smootly with the COVID-19 and all...
Now, I have to start planning the building process and buy the paint and everything the GSG Team included on their shopping checklist.

By the way, Kevin's help was invaluable. The newbie that I am just might have ordered the wrong drivers if it wasn't from him. Can't recommend GSG enough.

I'll add videos and pics of the build. If I can do it, anybody can, trust me!

PLANNING :
1. Install furniture, drapes and suspended ceiling tiles.
2. Complete shopping and prepare for the subwoofer build.
3. Receive and build my DIY subwoofers
4. Gear is in boxes for now, so install everything.
5. Build and add accoustic dampening panels
6. Learn and use DSP to create an immersive theater
7. Enjoy life?

The gear so far :

Receiver : Denon AVR-X3600H
AMP : Behringer NX 6000D
Projector JVC LX-NZ3
Fronts : KEF Q750B
Center : KEF Q650B
Sides + Surrounds : KEF Q150B
Ceilings: 4x Micca M-8C
sigpig, muzz and kevings like this.

With juggling between work from home and familly obligation, my build took WAY longer than expected.

Nonetheless, I'm proud of the partial results so far.

Here are a few pics :

Nearly done... Now, where did I put those baffles...

Bingo!

I ordered 1 gallon of Duratex from the only distributor I know of in Canada : QComponents.

I also used a small textured roller from Amazon.ca
Overall, painting was pretty easy, even for a novice like me. You really have to take your time and apply evenly.

I ended up applying 2 layers of paint and the results are pretty good :

By FAR, the hardest part of this build was to get those beasts from the shed to the basement. Outch! Those subs probably weight 200lbs each!

I even managed to nick the baffles with my impact driver when I bolted the drivers... no worry, I'll correct that later.

Now the problem...

I got carried over and order some of the biggest subs GSG is offering : The Roundover 21" Full Marty. They are really beautiful, but even with everything I had planned, I wasn't completely ready for how large those things really are...

As you can see, my Center channel is hiding the projection screen. I had to find a solution!

I decided on temporarely placing the front sub slightly to the left and the center channel to the right.

I also ordered a stand that should be delivered by the end of the week. For now, that is what it looks like :

Looking at the pictures, you can't tell they're 21" and look like 10" subs.

LOL! In my 16x11 room, I can tell you that they are NOT 10"! My wife already hates them and I haven't even turned them on yet!

It might look silly to most of you, but I have to learn how to set my NX6000D and run the initial Odyssey setup on my AVR-X3600H. That's my project for the next few days.

Me neither, just a minus sign inside of a circle in the middle of the area where the image should be.

Hum, that's weird!

Any clue on why the pics might have disappeared?

I used the "Copy link location" from Google photos. Could that be the problem?

Most likely. They're probably not "shared" for public posting, is my guess. I even opened the picture manually, and it's just the same thing.
