I am curious, kinda new to this stuff, find it very interesting. I was wondering if someone could lay out the KING of diy stuff along w/ bang for buck stuff (referring to sq) I think ht can easily be handled by cheap store bought crap. I am seeking the holy grail of audio reproduction (sub too) and have ended up here.

So far it seems the general concensus is that natalie p's are very nice, although I have read a bad review here and there. User error?

As a recordist, I used to build clones of vintage mic preamps... always by kit. ALways yieled most bang for buck. I found and still find this bang for the buck is most present in mimicking ultra high end gear.

Recommendations?

Bang for the buck and 'holy grail' are fundamentally mutually exclusive terms. Which do you want?

Re: speakers

In terms of human perception of SQ, you can't say that big dollars guarantees audio
satisfaction. Try this before you plan a DIY project. Find your own holy grail by doing
speaker auditions of commercial products to calibrate yourself so you can make
your DIY speaker project quest easier. Watch out for the Black Knight.

Most of the time our impressions are so selective that they differ greatly. You need to do some foot work and expose yourself to some hi-end audio one way or another.

There are Wilson Audio clones out there and some other.

It's like saying ,"I want the best car they make". There are too many to choose from.

Good luck KG

As of Feb 20th still looking for a Marantz SR7010
