Ok - Unixbox tells me that I require a 6 inch dia port that is 20 inches long. I cannot find 6 inch diameter pvc tubing at all and want to go with a 4 inch port that is about 8 inches long -- I'm to cheap to do the $45+shipping 6" flared ports at thrilleraudio. Questions is can I get away with the 4inch port without producing nasty turbulent noises etc?

The modeled air speed for my 300 L enclosure at 350 W is attached....

Thanks!

Have you gone to the all home imporovement centers? HD, Lowes, plumbing supply, etc? You have to score with at least one of them.

My local Home Depot carrier sonotube in, I believe 4", 5", 6" and 8" diameters in 8' lengths and I believe that they are all less than $10... not to mention a lot lighter and easier to cut than PVC pipe.

That's a great idea - found some quikTube a few weeks ago. Never occurred to me.
Local plumbing supplier wanted to sell me 20 feet of 6 inch pvc for $50.

Thanks for the great idea!

Find a new neighborhood development. I've got dozens of pieces of 4" and 6" PVC ranging from 6" to 3 feet long in the empty lot behind my house.

Your lucky, I've hit three home depots, one lowes, three hardware stores and none had 6" pvc or 6" sonotube. All had 4" pvc and the HDs had 8,12 inch sonotubes...that's it! I was was lucky that I found an 18" tube at one of the hardware stores. This was 50 miles west of Phila, Pa.

Found a Lowes that carried 6 inch pvc. No sonotube or equivalent (sakrete, quiktube) could be found in 6 inch size. Plenty of 8 inchers though.

Another source for 6" cardboard tube is heavy duty mailing tubes. They are usually sold in a set of 10 or 12. It is hard to find singles..
