Last year I figured out an outdoor arrangement I was happy with; I built a 10' wide screen, hang it on a chainlink fence using hooks and bungies, play movies off a PS3 projecting with my Hitachi Home 1 and get audio through one of those Sony boomboxes you see at Best Buy (ridiculous looking things with a glowing red circle, sounds pretty good but you'll want to cover the front with a jacket or something). However, this summer I have a new (used) projector, the Epson 8700UB, which I'm excited about, but there are a couple issues.

First off, the Home 1 was a short throw projector and this one more of a medium throw. Secondly, on nights where the temperature dropped more dramatically I would get a lot of condensation on the electronics. I wasn't that concerned with the old projector, but I'd like to avoid it with the new, especially since there are seams to the lamp compartment along the top.

So, my solution to both issues is to project through a window on the side of my garage. It's in the perfect location, but I don't know if there will be any picture quality issues. More importantly, I'm not sure this will be enough to prevent condensation. My plan is to leave the garage door open for a while to cool it off in the afternoon, then close the door when starting the movie so hopefully it doesn't cool down that much in there.

Also, I'll need an extended audio cable. With the cables I'm already using on the PS3, something like this should do it:

Finally, I intend to run the projector in normal power consumption mode with the high altitude fan on. I don't know what image mode I'll be using, whether Living Room for the brightness or a calibrated theater mode for the quality. I'll just see what looks good to me.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or insight that might help. My first and foremost concern is to avoid any damage to the projector.

Thanks in advance!
