RCA or 3.5MM run

I have a tv on my patio and I also have speakers on my patio that are connected to my whole home audio system that is in my basement about 50’ in distance apart. I’m trying to run an input from my TV on the patio to the whole home audio so I can push the sound through the patio speakers.

My TV only has a digital out and my whole home audio (Monoprice) Has either a 3.5mm or RCA. I was going to run 2 coax lines between each and get a convert that can convert the out put to both RCA or 3.5mm. What is the best option for a 50’ run? If 3.5mm what type of line do I run for that CAT or coax?

What kind of audio out connections does the TV have?

You would not normally use CAT5/6 or coax for the audio breakout.

Buy a Toslink Digital to Analog audio Converter - RCA L/R Stereo. Easy to find and will cost $10-$20.

Then run RCA cable to your amplifier. Cable and Toslink to RCA converter together $30-$35.

Monoprice sells both the converter and the cable. They have 50' runs of RCA/RCA or RCA/3.5mm. Your choice.

You could also use a 50' 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable with an RCA/3.5mm splitter on one end from the converter. It would work the same for less money.
