Anyone have any idea how this works?

I asked this on another thread and this is the only reply I got.

I know I'm going to sound like a total noob for asking these questions, but the camera's HD 720p video recording capabilities sounds better than the Sony Handycam Camcorder's 500 lines of resolution (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1196470791061)
Is it better at recording videos than the camcorder?

...or are there other factors that come into play when considering the video quality of a recording device?

(I know Hard Drive space, image stabilization, and a ******** mic are some things; but I was wondering what else would suck about using the camera as your regular camcorder)

EDIT: I found videos of the cameras footage on youtube and if you click watch in HD they look pretty damn good. What do you guys think?

no auto focus on video....plus tons more

cameras were intended to record video as much as a camcorder is..

a camcorder is not only ergonomically designed to capture video better but programmed better...

i wouldnt count on using devices such as the Nikon D90 for video you would normally use with a camcorder...

again this is the camcorder forum...

I have a fever and the only cure is more Blu-Ray....

From what I have heard about that camera, (not having seen it myself).....it takes very good quality videos with good lighting. When the ambient light declines, so does the video quality. Also, the quality of the pictures are not as good as competitive cameras. The main issue I see with that particular camera, is the 20-25 minute battery life while recording video........

Are you talking about the T500 (which I've heard that about), or the NV24HD?
