It is impossible to claim climate change has caused an early spring in any given year. We've had many years, going back as far as records have been kept, where an early spring has been experienced. I do have a couple of degrees in meteorology, so I don't speak as someone who has no idea what he's talking about.

Meteorology or climatology? I've heard that weather and climate are different things...

Anyone majoring in meteorology, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, takes a number of courses in climatology.

Yes, weather is generally understood as more short term whereas climatology is longer term. However when you speak of an early spring, that's a 'short term' statement and one that changes from year to year. No different than someone saying we had a cold, snowy winter or a warm, almost snowless winter.

In the northeast our first indication that we were in for a mild, almost snowless winter, was when the NWS projected an unusually cold & snowy winter.

Is Phil the one with the hat or the one with the tail?

I Googled him to get some useful life-changing tips, but no search results.

How does that hog not just bite the crap outa that guy in the hat

All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

Apologies to Phil for misspelling his name, it's Punxsutawney Phil. See groundhog day.
